Chapter 9: Roxanna Sleeps.

It was the first week of September. Finally a month of school has past.  Emma shared looks, and smiles, in the halls with Isaac and Cody. She got weekly notes from her brothers, even from Zany. She shared the letters with Jose, as it wouldn't be possible for this little contact without him. She silently screamed with every new one.

Sometimes the notes from Cody was him telling Emma she looked good in that outfit. And Isaac always had something new to say, don't get too close with that Fuller boy, or if anyone messes with my little sister... really, it was just Isaac being overprotective on what Emma called nothing. Zany never knew what to say, he mostly asked Emma for advice on anything he could think of. Each of letters had to be hidden in case anyone found out they were in contact with each other. Emma kept her letter from her brothers at Roxy's house. She didn't know what the Cole boys did with her letters.

To welcome the second month of school, Emma and Roxy planned a sleepover. They hadn't had one since summer. It was a Friday. August was gone so fast and they were another step close to year 8827. They had much to catch up on. They didn't get to talk much anymore, Roxy had found a guy best friend for herself, he was new to school and in their grade.

Emma got permission from her lawyers for a slumber party at Roxanna's house. They always had more fun there than at Emma's. Ronan and Madeline always made Emma feel welcome, they felt like a bonus family to her.

After school that day, Roxy drove Emma home to pick up her stuff then they went to Roxy's house. The Ganza household was two stores and had a large porch. Their pet blue bird was usually outside. The yard had daisies and a science-made flower called zcafidilenes, lining the porch fencing. The grass was a little dry looking, but the Ganza family had their corner of the world as perfect as can be.

"You can take your bag to our room," Emma spent so many weekends there that everything that was Roxy's, was Emma's too. "I can't wait for tonight, Em. The first month of sophomore year is over, wow."

She walked up the stairs to their room. Roxanna had her own room with a full bed and an aesthetic wall of photos and memories. To put it simply, Roxanna had room goals with her vanity and tea lights.

Emma put her bag on the bed and walked back down stairs. She joined Roxy, Ronan, and Madeline in watching television. About an hour later, their parents, Carrie and Neal, came home from a short business trip. They ran their own company and took their star employees on a trip to Salty Seas, which used to be Salt Lake City. They had only been gone since yesterday morning. Maddy had made lasagne for dinner. Everyone loved her cooking. After they ate, Emma and Roxy went to their room to spend the rest of the sleepover together.

"Oh my geez, I'm so sorry that Ronan is that annoying," said Roxy after arguing with her brother over who would get the last piece of pie. "But I'm sure you're used to the insanity." Roxanna walked over to her dresser and pulled out a pair of pajamas. The pants were light pink and covers in little red hearts with a matching red shirt.

"As used to it as I can be, I guess," Emma pulled her pajamas out of her bag. Her bottoms were light blue plaid with a dark blue shirt covers in Zzz's. Since they were both girls and didn't mind changing in front of each other after having to change for P.E. with practically strangers.

"So, Em, what movie should we watch?" asked Roxy, walking to her shelf of movies.

"Oh, I think you know..."

"TANGLED!" Both girls shouted with happiness. After all, who couldn't love Flynn Rider, which to them was the best looking Disney character. It was their movie.

The girls got settled with popcorn and some soda pop. It was their tradition that popcorn is always there with a movie, no matter what. But they made special popcorn. Roxy always put trail mix and chocolate drizzle on the popcorn. Tangled started and they knew most of the beginning script, they had seen this movie so many times.
