"Hey you okay?" Emma asked Stiles as they walked towards the school, hand in hand. Stiles tilted his head, squeezing her hand.
Stiles had stayed up all night at Scott's house. They needed to figure out what the monster was and how to stop it. It was killing people left and right and they couldn't let anyone else die. They decided to not consult Derek because they still didn't completely trust him. They tried to brain storm a list of people that could be responsible for the monster or in fact be the monster. "I know her, and I know its not her. I don't have hard proof but I know. Trust me" Stiles had told Scott when he suggested Emma as a suspect. Scott didn't bring it up again. After consulting with Allison, they discovered her Grandfather, Gerard had a bestiary. The plan was to get it during tonights lacrosse game. Scott would play in the game to keep an eye on everyone, Allison would get the keys and Stiles would get the book.
"Yeah, just nervous for the game tonight" Stiles offered a convincing smile. He wasn't necessarily lying but he felt bad for not telling her everything. Emma squeezed his hand, leaning her head on his shoulder.
"Well I am going to be there when you score your first goal" Emma encouraged, Stiles rolling his eyes. Stiles smiled at Emma's optimism, appreciating the positive vibes.
"You know I am not going to even get on the field?" laughed Stiles. Emma shrugged, pursing her lips.
"Wishful thinking" Emma replied. Emma and Stiles walked hand in hand for a while quietly, Emma resting her head on Stiles as they walked. Emma let out a few sad sighs, and Stiles began to wonder what was wrong. "You know you can tell me anything right?" Emma asked in a serious tone. Stiles looked at her with wide eyes.
"Yeah of course" Stiles swallowed, nervously. He had been feeling worse and worse about not telling Emma the truth about went on in Beacon Hills, and the way she asked so delicately only made the guilt bubble up. The only way he made him self feel better was that it was for her own safety. She was safer if she didn't know. "Why do you ask?" Stiles asked, trying to act clueless.
"I don't know" Emma kicked a pebble, her shoulders sagging slightly. "I feel like you guys are keeping something from me. I catch you guys in little lies and I try not to let it bother me but it gets to me you know?" Emma asked, looking up at him with sad eyes, his heart breaking.
"Yeah. I know" he whispered sadly, knowing what it felt like to get left out. Emma nodded, biting her lip as she stared at the ground.
"Oh and something else weird happened" Emma paused. Stiles looked at her, signaling her to continue. "I was running in the woods the other day and this guy stopped me" Stiles tensed, his heart racing. "He was tall, muscular, and kinda scary. Very dark and brooding. He said I knew his friends. You, Allison and Scott. He wanted me to tell you to be careful or something. He said he didn't want me to get hurt" Emma relayed the story, Stiles shaking his head in disbelief.
"What did you say?" Stiles asked nervously. He knew exactly who had stopped her. Derek, and Stiles was pissed about it.
"I told him to fuck off and then I ran" Emma said. "He laughed and said something about young love and walked away. It was really weird" Emma kinda shivered, Stiles squeezing her hand in reassurance.
"Don't worry about it. There's a bunch of weirdos in Beacon Hills" Stiles comforted, deciding that he would tell Derek to back off later. Emma sighed heavily, knowing Stiles was lying again. Emma looked up and saw Allison approaching them.
"Hey I need to talk to you!" Allison said as she came closer. Emma perked up at her friend, a smile spreading on her previously dull face. Allison stopped in front of them, pressing her lips together in a tight line. "Just Stiles" Allison said quietly, clearly feeling awkward.
