They stopped at the wall and Melina could see the confusion in Melody's eyes but she was to excited to show this to her that she could not explain. Putting her hand on the wall her eyes flashed bright purple and she tightened her grip on Melody's hand when she felt her stiffen in response. The wall then opened a portal to another room that was not even part of the house and they stepped in closing the wall after them. "This is scary at first I know. I can't imagine to be in your place right now but this is where I store my memories so that they cannot be stolen. If I forget them I can also come back here and look at them," she smiled at Melody who looked at her surroundings in wonder.
A room that did not have a ceiling or walls it all glowed and tinkled as though it was built with star dust that swirled. There was a huge table in front of it and the carpet that she was standing on that felt as soft as air. "Mom this is... its beautiful," she said putting her hand to her chest as her eyes roamed the entire room. Above her there were diamonds floating around the room that when looked at closer it seemed to be rain drops that would never fall.
"I'm glad you like it - I have never invited anyone in here but your dad..." she trails off thinking of her husband. Melina walked over to the table and called her over with a hand gesture. The table was made fully of crystal with a clear liquid swirling in the middle. Within thin air a daybed appeared close to where they stood looking into the table. The closer Melody looked into the liquid images appeared in the mixture. Melina placed her finger in the liquid and smiled as she found the exact memories that she wanted to see. Melody gasped as the images playing out in the bowl like a movie trailer and gave her mother a quick side glace.
"Mom, are you sure about this?" she asked looking at the liquid with doubt in her voice and her face. Melody's emotions felt like a tangle in her chest, fear, anxiety, astonishment and most definitely curiosity.
"Yes, I am sure about this," she grasped her daughter's shoulders and nodded, "its something that was to be done on your 18th birthday but... its time." She walked over to the daybed leading Melody to lay comfortably, "relax and just breath, I am going to place these in the inner corners of your eyes. When you feel it just squeeze and close your eyes. Remember that these are just memories and cannot be changed and you cannot be seen." With that she placed the droplets that changed into gel like crystal in her eyes. Blinking hard Melody was no longer in the room and instead she found herself in a field.
The sun light was streaming down and she walked through the grass following the sound of voices. A few feet from where she first stood she came to a halt seeing two girls running in her direction and suddenly ran through her with dandelions in their hands as this giggled. They wore pretty white dresses with round neck front colors and bows in their hair. One of the little girls stopped and looked around at the very green fields and bent forward touching the ground causing the entire field the erupt into brilliant dazzling singing flowers in many different colors. Melody looked in wonder but gasped as they ran through the kaleidoscope rousing millions of butterflies surrounding them in the hail of sounds all around them.
"Aphelia! Wow...!" one of the little girls looked around with big bright purple eyes that were lit up with excitement.
"Happy birthday Melina!" the little girl with vivid green and gold eyes laughed hugging Melina to her. Melina hugged her back and soon they faded into the scenery before Melody's eyes. The scene changed again around her but this time the girls in front of her weren't little anymore older they seemed to be teenagers. They sat side by side on two swings and this time the scene was very intense because Melina who she made out easily was twirling a bracelet in her hands. Tears were streaming down her face while they sat still on the perfectly matching swings. She walked up to the young girls that looked her age. Her mother was breath taking, her hair pulled back by two braids from the front and tied into the loose jet back hair that fell to her back in a curly array. Her cheek bones were high, eye brows thin and shaped in a way she felt a pang of jealousy as to why she had such big eye brows. She could see the resemblance of herself because she had the same shaped lips and eyes even the color except that her mother's gold in her eyes were much brighter.
