Sparkle Chapter 3

17 years later...

Melina and Matthias learned the ways of the human world and only practiced there magic in the thick forest that surrounded their compound. All that time that they had lived in England with their adopted daughter Melody. They seemed to be the normal family with a cover story of migrating from Ireland. They did need help and made a lot of allies, friends and even Matthias' brother Matthew. Matthew lived on earth for many years but because he was a magical being he could not age as the magic within defied death by the aging process. This caused him to move around quite often. Since he was basically an earthling he had a lot of contacts in the right places that helped with documents that was much needed.

Melody grew up having it all as Melina did not want her to miss out on a human life. Her eighteenth birthday was not far away which brought worry to everyone around because Melody knew nothing about her true heritage. Matthias was very strict on not using magic around Melody although this was hard but it was the only way to really protect her from both Orrin and humans. They made a life here with Matthew's help since he had lived a long time on earth he had lots of time to become a billionaire. They made a fortune with a software company that progressed to the most recognized software builder in the industry. Matthew soon welcomed Matthias to the company and ran the company successfully together. Melody happened to be their guinea pig as a growing teenage girl she was the test the audience that was attracted to games and new software. She just had the brain to absorb it all and it seemed a way to train her without training her magically. Matthias was also very strict about training her in combat and to ensure that she was fit.

Watching her grow up from a baby that was in deep trouble to a beautiful young woman that wanted to find herself was something remarkable. They surrounded themselves in a community of magical beings of all kinds that also seek refuge on earth and they were all like family and friends. When they first came to earth they were under the influence that they were the only super naturals on earth but soon learned with introductions via Matthew that they weren't alone.

There community was of mixed supernaturals from many different planets and origins such as Suacury the home of Sylphs, Keigantu the home of Nymphs, Mezivis home of shades that choose to use good magic, Phexunia home to Phoenix like abilities called Phelexonians, Lorix the home to Fairies including Demons that choose to work for the good side and mostly fated to another race. Last but not least the planet of where Melina and Melody once lived Katania home to the Elves.

Many races were mixed and children were born into the community with either side of magic but there was no other like Melody for she was the only unique hybrid to be born. The Elders could feel the vibe off her spirit that she was not like any other being encountered. Some feared her feeling the magic that was trapped in her and stayed clear of her and few stayed close and true to Melody but never revealing themselves to her. They all had the appearances of humans and seemed to lead the lives of a normal human but were all unique in their own way. Earth was home to many scattered around the globe in small colonies of supernaturals that were pure of heart with no intentions of hurting humans. The main rule that stood among them was keeping magic a secret.

Melody was now 17 years old and her birthday was not far away stirring her magic. Soon she would notice things within herself that would scare her but they would need to tell her about this so that she would be able to command the control of her magic. No one really knew what Melody was capable of but they knew that it would be more than they imagined.

Two months after her 17th birthday Melody was having dinner with her family when she pushed back her chair carefully with a soft scraping sound against the marble floor, "I must excuse myself I am afraid that I have a terrible headache."

This has never happened before which caused Matthias and Melina to glance at each other with worried expressions. Matthias Reaches for Melina's hand across the table shaking his head telling her not to follow. He could see the urgency in her eyes and said, "It is not time just yet love."

"Matthias... I know of what my premonition showed me," she sighed looking at his thumb stroking her hand and continued, "I feel her and I know that her magic is going to unlock soon." Within that moment Matthew walks in with his red haired fiance Rosa on his arm, "It looks like I have missed dinner," he proclaims looking mischievously at Rosa. She blushed looking up at him and let out a small smile.

Turning their attention to their visitors both Melina and Matthias smiled up at them, "Matthew, Rosa! Not at all you always have a reserved seat at this table," Melina says with a bright smile that she felt from the heart. In minutes they were digging in and happily chatting with each other as family did.

After some time Matthew asks, "so where is my wonderful niece, skipping dinner?" Immediately the tension grew around the table as Matthias stiffened and Melina's facial expression voiced concern.

Clearing his throat Matthias said in an almost formal tone try to mask his worry, "I am afraid Melody went to bed early claiming that she had a head ache."

Disappointment washed over Rosa's face, "I was hoping that she and I could do some more wedding planning for the big day.

"None sense Rosa! I am here to help you as well you know," Melina says playfully ridding of the worry on her face from earlier.

"Oh I know that you would help me but I love Melody's eye for fashion and I brought my theme book with me. I just know that she wanted to see what I have come up with," Rosa said sighing.

"I understand Rosa but she already went to bed. You are always welcome to show her your stuff tomorrow," Melina says looking at Rosa with a soft smile knowing that everyone was drawn to Melody because of her very happy personality. She had the ability to brighten anyone's day and always had a ready compliment to bestow on another.

"I would love to show you and get your opinion as well if you aren't busy..." Rosa says looking at Melina with a hopeful look. Melina smiles and guides Rosa away from the table to the back porch that over looked her flower farm. Like Matthias she had also immersed herself into a career and she happened to be a wedding and party planner including a flower farmer. She was also training Melody to do the same as she did so that she would not be confused on her choice on a career path. She also had very good taste which would be one of the reasons that Rosa wanted her opinion as well.

Being left alone at the table with Matthew, Matthias looks at his brother with anxiousness and sits where Rosa once sat at Matthew's side. "She has never been sick in her life and I know that she is only 17 but Matthew, her magic is coming in. Melina can sense her and she is beginning to worry."

"Brother, I am not certain that we should start worrying just yet but I am sure that it is time to allow Melody to know who she truly is," he shout whispers to Matthias who allowed his shoulders to slump.

"I often wonder if we made the wrong choice on growing her up."

"You know better than anyone else that this was the best way to keep her safe..." Matthew voice trails off as a flickering light catches on the side of his eye. Stiffening he felt alert and took off running up the stairs with Matthias hot on his trail.

At the top of the stair they stopped at Melody's door which sourced the brilliant dancing lights under her door. They ready themselves for the intruder inside and pulls the door open slowly both wearing murderous expressions. They stand still with now shocked expressions looking at Melody elevated off her bed and the brilliant multicolored lights came from the millions of ancient language of the Gods running along her body like tattoos.

"This cannot be happening..." Matthew says to Matthias not taking his eye from his niece who's body was glowing brightly. She was suspended in the air with her mouth open but instead of sound there was light including her eyes. Her hair was flowing around her while white markings continued to invisibly tattoo her skin. Matthias shakes off the shock and proceeds to walk towards her when he was pushed back with a powerful force. Matthew hurry's to his brother's side and quickly pulls him up to his feet.

"There is a force field around her, there is no way that we could get close to her," Matthew assures his brother ensuring that he doesn't with his over protectiveness to try again. Matthias looks at her but says nothing. Shortly after Melina and Rosa joins them Rosa is frozen at the sight of Melody. Melina breaks the silence with a shuddering cry piercing the silence, "Its too soon for this..." she manages to say in the midst of her tears.
