Deceit has known for only the more recent time that he regressed. See, when Thomas digs himself into a hole of lies, Dee has trouble keeping up, which can become overwhelming to the point of regression. Because lying is what he does, he should be better at this, at holding the lies together.
Let's say that happened again...
-Meanwhile-
"Roman! Put down Virgil's headphones and get Logan for lunch!"
"Ooo~ Peaches just laid down the law!"
"Remy, please-"
"I have been requested?"
"Can we just-"
"Thanks, Dad."
"You're- Hey! Stop, Remy-"
"Pancakes!"
"Yes, Roman."
"Where's the?"
"The fridge, Virgil."
"HEY!"
"Remy, give him a break."
"Thank you, Kiddo!"
"Yup."
"Can you find-"
"Where is-"
"Right."
"I'm here."
"Lord of Disney!"
"Bacon coming through."
"That is preposterous-"
"My Starbucks!"
"You have another in the fridge."
"Thanks, V."
"Let's calm down-"
"Yo, Netflix tonight?"
"Guys can we just eat?"
"Of course!"
The household was louder these days, a bit of chaos and frustration, but nothing they couldn't handle.
"Thanks for lunch, Dad."
"Always-"
Ding Dong
"That's odd?"
Author-chan lays down a sleeping deceit snake baby child in front of the door, and bolts to hide in a bush as she watches carefully. Patton opens the door, very confused, and shuts it again. The loud thud wakes up deceit snake baby child, and he begins to cry. This alerts Patton immediately, who opens the door with wide eyes, and brings the kid inside.
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a baby, Roman."
"I knew that!"
"Really now?"
"Who are they?"
"Aw, cute little duckling!"
"Remy, that is a child, not a duckling."
"Lo, it's a nickname."
"I do not see how it is accurate?"
"Bud, maybe just leave them be, Remy has their own style."
"Whose the side?"
"Huh?"
"Well unless there is a new asset, I'd like to assume someone has regressed."
Patton looked at the kiddo closely and gasped when he found some very recognizable scales.
"It's Deceit!"
"Oh hell no!"
"Virgil, what's wrong?"
"What's wrong? That guy was horrible to us, he pretended to be you!"
"He's a defenseless kid, what harm could he do?"
"I was a defenseless kid, but I still managed to almost set the house on fire."
"What."
"Not the time, my point is-"
"Would you rather leave him with the dark sides?"
That made Virgil pause. Of course not. No kid should be treated like he was. But, Deceit was one of the people to treat him that way.
"Whatever. But, I'm keeping my distance from him."
---------------
The week had gone along without consequence. Deceit couldn't seem to remember much, he didn't know Logan's name or what creativity meant. He wasn't sure what worms, pens, or apples were. He didn't even know what being gay meant!
He didn't talk much either, not unless he had a question. He had many questions. Like, Why do they call him Deceit? Why is Remy a They/Them? Why can he never seem to remember Remy's pronouns? Who's the purple monster hiding behind the door with dark stickers? Why were these people taking care of him? Why did Remy get to drink those things with whip cream? Why does Patton treat him like a baby? Why do they only watch Dinsey movies? Who was that girl drinking tea in the closet? Why does Logan stare at scribbles all day? Why does Roman ask what he thinks of weird clothes? Whose crying in the bathroom? Why are pancakes really good?
Wait. Why is someone crying in the bathroom?
Deceit cautiously made his way to the door and took the smallest peek inside. It's the monster!
No, that's not a monster, that's Virgy!
See, in Deceit's tiny child snake mind, he and Virgil were best friends!
"Cry."
Virgil shrieked whipping his head at the kid and scrambled back against the tub continuing to cry.
"I'm not sorry. Can I not help?"
Virgil didn't even react, he just continued shaking looking at the wall in fear. That made Dee uncomfortable, so he took that as a yes.
"Don't breathe. It won't help." Whispered the snake child.
Dee rubbed Virgil's back in comfort and gave him a sad, sympathetic look.
Virgil glanced back.
"I'm not here. I'll never be here. You aren't fine. I don't have you."
"Why?"
"I understand?"
"Why are you helping me?"
"I hate you, you are my worst friend, I don't care about you."
Virgil looked at Dee for a bit, wiped away his tears, and gave a weak, crooked smile.
"Thanks, Dee."
Dee giggled and ran off.
Maybe he wasn't so bad.
-------------
"Virgil."
"Yeah?"
"I'd like to not apologize."
"Really?"
"I always knew what you went through. I am not very sorry for my past actions towards you."
"It's fine."
"What?"
"All is forgiven." Virgil said with a mischievous grin, "You did say you hate me."
"I absolutely did!"
"Dude, I recorded it."
"Yes! Where is it not?"
"You'll never find it!"
The two tackled each other and laughed. Patton totally got pictures.
"Good to see my boys getting along."
"Your boys?"
"My teenage boi, and my snake son!"
MORE TOMORROW, YAY!
