"To fight evil, you have to understand the dark."

I stared at my small faint reflection for a while and then, fixed my eyes beyond the glass, tracing the patterns in the stars as they slipped by. I'd read somewhere that they were called constellations and that there was a whole science devoted to studying them. But to me they seemed nothing but shapeless clusters and I imagined each star as a different point in time, a different event, all somehow connected in the intricate web that was the universe.
I reflected, as I sat there, what chain of events had brought me to that moment. I was on a ship, a ship which had its course set for one of the most nightmarish planets in the galaxy, hoping to find out more about Kylo's sister, who only months ago had not existed to us. And as if my situation was not strange enough I found that sitting in the seat beside mine was a Twi'lek with almost luminous blue skin, one who I had been tasked with getting to know.
"You know you don't have to hold onto the steering anymore, the ship's on autopilot."
"What?"
Zanna's amused voice shook me from my self-reflection. I turned and looked at her. She was staring back, her legs crossed and tapping her long fingers on the arm of the chair. They looked like blue spider's legs.
"The steering. You're still holding it."
I was finding it hard to understand how this Zanna sharing the ship with me was the same one who had introduced herself to me nervously when we'd first met in commissary. She's always seemed slightly on edge around me. Well actually, I thought, around Kylo. This was the first time the two of us had been together alone.
I released the knobs from my grip, blinked and then forced a bewildered smile onto my face.
"Right." I said.
Neither of us spoke for a while. Then Zanna suddenly asked,
"Are you worried that this might be a waste of time?"
Us trying to bond? I thought. But I said instead,
"Well, I trust Kylo's instincts. If he thinks there's something on Dathomir, then it's worth checking out." I made sure to say his name clearly, it irritated me how she kept calling him Ben.
"I agree." She lifted her hand to stroke one of the tails on her head. I sunk back in my chair and continued to stare out of the window.
"What was it like finding out you were a jedi?" she asked after another minute of silence. I could tell that she was grasping for straws now.
I really did want to get to know her, as Kylo had asked me to, yet there was a strong and inexplicable emotion which made me wish that she had just stayed on Chandrila.
"It was, well, quite exciting," I answered finally and then, almost protectively, smoothed the cool metal handle of the lightsaber attached to my belt.
Zanna uncrossed and recrossed her legs. Her hands were now lying still on the arms of the seat.
"So Ben trained you."
"Yeah," I said, wondering how she knew this.
She was staring at some point on the dashboard and continued, "And that's when you two fell in love."
