The sun was past the horizon by the time we reach the Argents apartment. Inside, we found Stiles already with them along with an abundant amount of weapons ranging from bows to guns to knives.
Stiles hadn't stayed long, planning to go to school and meet up with Lydia. Although, Isaac, Allison, and I chose to ditch another day of school. It's pointless for me to go, and even though I want Isaac to have an education, it's his decision to make. Besides, I'm sure he hasn't had a good night's rest in days and wouldn't be able to keep his focus on anything. The dark rings around his eyes prove that.
"So, Jennifer is going to take you?" Isaac asks after they fill us in on what we have missed in the past few hours.
While Stiles distracted the police during our escape, he had discovered the word 'Argent' spray-painted in red on the elevator doors of the hospital. It has to be a warning about Jennifer's next target. Besides, it's no coincidence that she would choose Allison's father as her next target. First Stiles's father, then Scott's mother, now Allison's father? She's messing with them individually.
"Not if we can help it," Allison interjects. "We think she'll be at the bank vault."
"Okay," I tell her, not questioning how they came to that conclusion. They have been right about every other location thus far, so I trust they are right about this, too. "Let's go be heroes."
Packing up minimum weapons, we pile into Chris's vehicle to go to the infamous vault. Our plan is simple; trap Jennifer and torture her into telling us where Melissa and Sheriff Stilinski are hidden. Actually, I added the torturing part. They aren't entirely against it, but they want to make this mission as smooth as possible. With Jennifer, nothing is smooth, and they should already know that. I'll allow them to try things their way, and when that doesn't work, we'll do it my way. Chris hasn't explained what he is going to do when we find her, but I'm hoping it's beneficial enough to get the job done quickly.
Once we make it to our destination, I notice the windows and doors are boarded up. The sun is still out, close to the horizon, but being inside this dusted bank, it can trick anyone into believing it is pitch black outside. Only the few rays of sunlight that sneak past the wood covering every exit remind me the sun is still visible beyond these walls.
Opening the vault door that once held Boyd and Cora, we climb inside the shadowing room, no Jennifer in sight.
"It's empty," Allison comments. All the room had to show is metal bars and shelves to hold people's possessions and a monumental symbol in the middle of the tiled floor.
"Be careful anyway," Chris adds with a sound of a zap. I stare at the electric baton Chris holds in confusion. What good would that do to Jennifer? I'm aware it would have some sort of effect on her, but that isn't the weapon he carried the last time he went after the creature.
"I thought you only used those on werewolves," I state skeptically.
"I do," he replies back then suddenly strikes me with the weapon before I can act on anything. Bolts of electricity rush through my body and bring me to my knees. My breathing is heavy from the strain my body takes, but I can feel myself healing.
When I get my hands on him, he will regret his act of treachery. What was his endgame here, anyway?
The sound of skin burning echoes around the room again, however, this time it didn't belong to me and I knew it wasn't Allison either. He had harmed Isaac and he is going to pay.
I'm halfway to my feet, ready to fight until everything goes dark in a snap.
