For thirty minutes I have been watching Isaac pace back and forth along the wall of windows like I had the previous night he had his run-in with the Alpha pack. Apparently, the girl he mentioned when he came back at Derek's old home had rescued him that night, but that was the only memory he could recall from his lone-wolf search. Along with two Alphas chasing him that have the ability to morph into one larger Alpha.
"You know, I'm starting not to like this idea. Sounds kind of dangerous," he confesses while I lean against the desk with books scattered across it. "You know what? I definitely don't like this idea, and I definitely don't like him."
"I don't like him either," I add in agreement.
"You'll be fine," Derek states with a monotone voice. 'Fine' isn't the word I would use to describe anything involving Peter.
Isaac quits his pacing and heads in our direction, away from the windows, "Does it have to be him?"
Derek continues to look down at the book occupying his attention, "He knows how to do it. I don't. Be more dangerous if I tried doing it myself."
"You know Renee doesn't trust him, right?" he informs him. I'm sure he's already aware of my concerns with him considering the number of times I've told Derek I don't trust him. "You know, personally I'd...well I trust, Renee."
A small smile reaches my lips hearing those words. They are so easy for him to say with the small amount of time we've known each other. And I'm not one to easily trust, but I've reached a certain point where I can trust him, too, and that's a huge step for me. Trust isn't something I hand out on a silver platter. And honestly, I haven't been able to trust anyone other than Kol my whole life. There have been people I knew I never had to worry about when 'working' with them, but I would never pin them as trustworthy. I simply had the upper hand.
"Do you trust me?" Derek asks, finally prying his eyes away from his book and stares up at Isaac.
Isaac stares back, not knowing how to answer until he finally forces a 'yeah' out. Derek seemed to believe him, but he didn't fool me. His body language said differently as he fumbled with one of the books on the desk near me. I know he has been having difficulty trusting Derek over the past few months with everything going on with the Alpha pack and what had happened back in the springtime with the Argents and Jackson. The only pack leader he has shown trust to is Scott.
Throughout the summer he has been transferring his relationship with Derek, over to Scott. I wish he would also transfer over to his pack as well, instead of faking an interest in staying with Derek. It would be safer for him that way and I know Scott will actually care for Isaac, unlike Derek. And if Derek does care for Isaac, he doesn't show it very well. Yes, he internally saved him after the attack from the Alpha's, but he should have never been in that situation. And Derek isn't the only one to blame for that...
"I still don't like him," Isaac points out.
I straighten myself and cross my arms, "Nobody likes him."
Suddenly, the rusted metal door slides open to reveal Peter. Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
"Boys, and girl," he announces as he prances down the stairs and moves towards us. "FYI, yes, coming back from the dead has left my abilities somewhat impaired, but the hearing still works. So I hope you're comfortable saying whatever it is that you're feeling straight to my face."
"We don't like or trust you," I state straight to his face as he wished.
Derek slams his book closed loudly, "Now, shut up and help us."
Peter looks between the three of us with shock in his eyes for a split second, but the smile stays intact. "Fair enough," he says and flicks his arm with the effect of claws jolting out.
