THOMAS POV:

"What happens to them" I asked. "We call them grievers" said Newt looking away. "Of course no one has seen one and live to tell about it. But they're out there" said Newt. He again looked like he was trying to read my face. To see if I was scared. I wasn't. Instead I'm curious. For some reason I have a calm feeling about the whole thing. Maybe it's just because I'm with Newt. "Right well, that's enough questions for one night" said Newt. Newt turned to me. "Come on, your suppose to be the guest of honor" said Newt. "No I" I started. "No, come on" said Newt ignoring me. He helped me up and we started walking. "Hey Frypan" said Newt. Frypan came out of the kitchen. "Show my friend here what bacon taste like" said Newt setting his drink down. Frypan picked up a piece of bacon and tossed it at me. I took a few seconds and caught it. I took a bite of the bacon. That's actually good bacon. I continued eating the bacon. It was delicious. "Eat up Greenie. You'll need your strength for working those fields tomorrow" said Frypan.

Newt picked up his drink and put his hand on my back. "Come on" said Newt. I finished eating and we started walking. Newt took his hand off my back. I was a little disappointed. "I don't know anything about gardening" I said. "Don't worry about it. We learned it's best to let the greenies try everything until we decided what they do best" said Newt. Makes sense but I still want to be a runner. I guess I could talk to Minho but I doubt he will let the greenie become a runner. I mean he might if I'm lucky.

NEWT POV:

I know I have seen the greenie before. I can't remember where but I'm sure that once he says his bloody name I'll remember. We walked around the bonfire and I told the greenie who was who. "What if I wanna be a runner" asked the greenie. Some reason I don't trust him out there. Probably because I want to protect him and the grievers would tear the poor boy limb from limb. "Did you not listen to a word I said earlier? No one wants to be a runner. Besides you have to be chosen" I said.

"Be chosen by who" asked the greenie. A boy was pushed into us and the greenie almost fell. He stood up and adjusted his shirt. "What do you say greenie, wanna see what you're made of" asked Gally. Everyone started chanting greenie, greenie, greenie. The greenie stepped into the circle and everyone cheered. I noticed Minho was suddenly interested. "Rules are simple greenie. I try and push you out of the circle and you try to last more then five seconds" said Gally. Some of the boys laughed. "Don't break the greenie Gally" I said. "Your boy friend will be fine Newt" said Gally. The greenie and I both blushed. "Ready" asked Gally. The greenie nodded and Gally ran up to him. Gally pushed him into a group of boys who pushed the greenie back at Gally. Gally caught the greenie and tossed him on the floor. I am worried that Gally might be too rough on him. After all halfings are slightly stronger and faster then humans. The greenie looked back at Gally. "Come on Greenie. We aren't done yet" said Gally. The greenie stood up. "Stop calling me greenie" said the greenie. "Stop calling you that. Well what do you wanna be called? A shank" asked Gally.
