I smiled. I guess that was a start.
"Ok, also another problem. Where the heck are we?"
We stepped outside, and I was just lost. The air was still, still enough to make me almost run out of oxygen. I was truly shocked at the fact that this place was more polluted than my home.
Just...how..?
I didn't recognise this city at all. Were we even in the same country anymore? Even the climate over here was different. It was like...another indescribable place. It was hot, humid but a bustling city with a lot of...nature..? It looked like a city had been built into some kind of rainforest. Although, the rainforest had been destroyed by the infected air.
There were loads of people riding motorcycles...strange. You didn't get much of that back home.
There seemed to be a lot 'Punks' around here too. Guess she wasn't the only one.
She locked the door behind us and gave me a mystifying look.
"...You mean...you've never been here before?"
I shook my head.
She snorted.
"Well, quite the ignorant little swine, huh?"'
"What? No-No I'm not judging or a-anything I just..."
"I'm just kidding, jeez take a friggin joke, swiney."
"S-Swiney...?"
She chuckled again. God I really had no clue as to why she insisted on calling me that stupid name.
"S-So where to now?"
She lead the way, leading us to a bus stop which I was thankful for. I would never have been able to walk so far.
"Hey, I never did ask...how did you even locate where I was in the first place?"
She froze for a second but then kept on walking. The panicked expression on her face couldn't have made her look more guilty.
"T-That is...none of your beezwax. I have my ways."
I sighed.
"Whatever. As long as you don't kidnap innocent people again...I guess it doesn't matter."
She giggled nervously. I wondered if she always made those types of mistakes or wether it was only me.
I hope she didn't.
"Anyway, your the one who brought me out here. Surely you can get us back."
She stayed silent. How could I even be sure I could trust her? That she was even going the right way. Or even taking me home in the first place. What if it's some sort of a trap?
"...You...uh...gunna answer me or-"
"Shut up for a second."
She put her arm out infront of me as if she were trying to protect me from something.
"......"
After snapping my self back to reality, I finally realised our surroundings. Wh-What? How far did we walk?
Oh great not another forest. And where the hell is the bus stop at? I looked around, slightly frantically trying to spot the bus stop. No sign of it. We must've taken a wrong turn or something.
"Stand back...There's something following us."
Something...following us? And how does she know that? Why would someone follow us? I wasn't even from around here. Did she have some unfinished business with someone?
"...What do you mea-"
"I said shut up!"
I heard a rustling of bushes from behind us.
What was that? Surely it was just an animal.
I spun my head round, as did she.
"Who's there?! Show yourself!"
The bushes started moving and the creature that was hiding was coming closer.
"S-Should we approach it..?"
I whispered, my voice shaking.
Why was this becoming more and more tense. I'm sure it was just nothing but...I didn't want to just jump forward and throw myself into a possible danger.
We both stepped forward, cautiously, my mind racing. My heartbeat so was so loud and fast that I felt like she could hear it.
"Are you nervous?"
She asked, still whispering and keeping her eyes on the moving bush.
God did I look that awkward?
The air fell silent and I started to really panic.
The tension was so high I started to sweat.
I rubbed my forehead.
"W-What?! Of course n-not just-focus on the creature..!"
Of course I was nervous. I was in a foreign place I had no clue about, and then Kei has been telling me about all of these Phantom attacks that have been popping around town lately.
I had no idea what was going on in the world right now. How powerful or dangerous were these 'Phantoms' exactly?
Apparently they liked to lurk around in woods, and target humans who were at their weakest. I would know...obviously.
"Shit...It's coming closer! How are we supposed t-"I have never really screamed like the girl I am. Well...I don't necessarily ever scream but...really I'm just a big baby. Today I figured that out first hand.
I felt a cold weight pressing on my shoulder from behind.
"-AGHHHHHHH!"
Someone screamed...who was it? My eyes practically spun a full circle round, whilst my body jumped into panic mode.
My stomach churned. I felt as if I threw up my heart.
It took me a long few seconds to comprehend that the high-pitched hollering was my own.
Damn. I really wasn't me today.
"...Wh-Wh-Wh..What.."
I was scared to turn around, scared to move, but also too curious as to how someone's body could be glowing and illuminating like this person's was!
My body froze. No...please don't be what I think it is...
"A-Ahah..ahh...S-Swiney? T-There's a...aaahh..."
That's all I needed to hear. I knew it. It was one of those creepy ghost things again...oh god I'm so dead...
I spun my body round as slow as the earth did.
I swallowerd the lurking lump in my throat and bit my lip so I hard it began to tremble a small leak of blood.
I felt the warm, thick ooze of crimson dripping down my chin.
Shit.
When slowly making eye-contact with the Phantom her see-through face became more and more vivid. She was so pale...did she...die? I didn't think it was possible for someone to be that pale.
I wanted to say something but my mouth just dangled open and I heard no sound coming from my bleeding lips.
I was too shocked to feel the sting on my lip, too shocked and overwhelmed to taste my own blood in my dry mouth.
What I saw wasn't human. Definitely not human.
Her hollowed out, lifeless eyes were bigger than mine. They were wide open, as if she was constantly in shock.
Her lips were as pale as her ice-coloured cheeks and she wore a none-existing expression.
With no warning of her movements, she reached out her hand and placed a finger on my bleeding lip. The sensation of an ice cold finger poking at my warm, blood-covered lips sent instant chills throughout not just my spine, but my entire body. I felt goosebumps all over and my knees wanted to shake and give way all of a sudden. She took away her icicle of a finger and put it in her mouth, sucking off the warm, red blood that somehow belonged to me.
She took out her finger and placed her frozen hand on my heated up cheek. The difference in temperature between us was so contrasting it felt like there were steam marks planting on my skin.
Just then, someone grabbed my head and spun it round and round as if I were an owl. Wait no...no one's grabbing my head...my sight is just spinning.
Spinning.
"Agh!"
A shock of pain hit me so suddenly I couldn't even breathe. What...is...happening...no-please no. Not this again. Not now. Please not now.
After letting my trembling legs give way, my mind hit darkness before I hit the floor.
The last sound I heard before the shrill ringing noises took over my hearing were Punk girl grunting in pain, screaming 'Swiney'. Haha. Funny nickname that is.
If I had never shown Blaise my diary, I would have been preventing myself from a lifetime of nightmares.
Oh god I swear I'll never get involved with this stuff again. I'll never wander into the woods ever again...I'll never trust weird people at first sight anymore...I'll never...No...I'll burn everything that's precious to me. If that's the only way to prevent myself from ever feeling this weak again. If that's what it takes...I honestly couldn't care less.
My drifting, useless thoughts led me into a physiological endless void, yet again.
It felt like I was reliving a nightmare over and over. Why did this keep happening to me?
