I watched as Yves spoke to the oricals about the situation. He said it was "adult talk." Damn cat.
I took it upon myself to explore the ruins that we were currently in. It was pitch black outside with only the moons and odd colored stars illuminating the sky. The crumbling walls were ridden with dark green vines and assorts of thorned flowers.
I was about to exit the room when Oliver yelled out for me.
"My flower, where are you headed?" He spoke, his voice sounding smooth like butter. I smiled a bit at his soft tone, "I would like to explore, care to join me?" I said. He nodded his head and reached out for my hand.
"Just Incase.." he said trailing off. "Just Incase." I muttered. The veins in his arms illuminated with a blue hue at the touch of my finger tips. Why does that happen?
Oliver shook his head, "Not yet." He said softly. "Everything will be explained later. For now, enjoy the moment."
We walked outside of the ruins and sat atop of the growing greens that littered the mountain top. "Your world is so beautiful. I wish mine was as peaceful. There's always a constant conflict. When one ends, another one begins." I said sighing.
"Peace is everything here in Lotus. If the realms had conflict, there would be war," He sat back with his arms holding him up. He looked ethereal as the moonlight lit his face. His head tilted and he glanced over at me with a lopsided smile. I felt my heart skip a beat.
"There was once a war. Before the oricals were established. But it was long before i was born, it was the revolutionary war that shaped Lotus into what it is now. The story is now told to children when they are young." He said, staring off into the night.
"Will you tell me about it?" I asked quizzically. He released a sigh. "One day, Just not today." My shoulder slumped and i played with the growing greens.
"You want to see something extraordinary?" He asked, noticing my change in mood. I nodded and stared up at him as he stood up and stretched his muscles.
His hands, crafted by molten rock, began to illuminate a bright reddish orange until lava spilt out of them. The lava flowed around him like a glowing aura.
"This is my magic. All of my family is like me, a cross breed of the different realms," he absorbed the lava back into his palms and sat next to me. "But each of us has a different power. I can use fire and lava just like magic." He smiled, proud of his lineage.
"Do you think one day, i can use magic? I feel so weak without Yves. I cause trouble everywhere i go. These creatures chase me and I'm defenseless against them." I said looking down. He put his hand to my cheek, it was warm.
"If you'd like, we can train physically and spiritually. I can teach you to be agile and fight, as well as be mentally strong to harness magic and be able to control it," i grabbed his hand from my face and put it in my lap, it was warm to the touch and now sported a slight blue glow. "Anything is possible, maybe if we train you will one day be able to use magic."
His hand gripped mine softly and he looked up at me, "But you need to have a strong will."
I was about to speak when loud screeches sounded off in the distance. I shrank and scooted closer to Oliver. "What was that?" I said nervously.
He chuckled, "There are feral creatures in this world, my flower. Not everything is tame. Do you think every fenrir is born submissive? You earn their trust and their loyalty." He looked at me with a soft smile. "Not everything can be perfect."
He grabbed my hand and helped me up. "We should go back to the castle." He unfurled his wings and stretched them wide. They were gorgeous. I stared at them and then touched touch its soft feathers. He tensed for a moment and then let out a sound that could only be described as a purr.
I flushed pink and he grabbed my hand. "Let's save that for another day, my flower." His voice, a few octaves lower.
"Della! I'm all done." I heard Yves yell from inside the ruins. His little body strutted out and i scooped him up into my arms. "Let's return to the castle. You have much to see!" I said excited. He rolled his eyes and floated away from me.
"I guess i have to return to my gem for the trip huh?" He said, sadly. I nodded but reassured him it won't be long. He left with a sigh and i looked over to Oliver. He nodded and then lifted me up into his arms.
The flight was short, as we didn't talk much. I curled into his chest and his arms gripped me tighter. The wind was a lot harsher, and the night was a lot colder.
I closed my eyes and listened to his heart beat. It was calm and steady. Unknowingly, i drifted to sleep to the sound of his flapping wings.
I awoke in a familiar bed. I groggily lifted my head and twisted back into the bed sheets. I heard the shower in the bathroom running, and quickly turn off. I pushed my head back down and closed my eyes with a sigh. I heard his heavy footsteps near the bed.
"It's late, my flower. Go back to sleep." His voice slightly raspy. I turned to look at him and gave him a sleepy smile. "I'm awake now and so are you." He wore a loose t-shirt and sweatpants. His wings and tail now gone, but the rest of his appearance remained the same. He looked just gorgeous in anything.
I patted the spot next to me and he slowly made his way over. "I know we just met, and we shouldn't be sleeping in the same bed but not going to lie I feel kind of scared to sleep alone." I said softly.
"I still don't know your world and you're all that i know right now. I just want to stay close, Incase of anything happening." I played with my hair, nervously.
He smiled and brushed his hand on top of my hair. He patted the spot next to him, silently asking me to near. I scooted closer, laying my head on his thigh. "Do not worry flower. I will always protect you. Do not doubt that." He whispered. I smiled at him and let out a sigh of relief.
I feel a strange pull to him. As if there was a string on my heart pulling me to his. each time I'm with him that string keeps getting shorter and shorter. something inside told me I can trust him, this feeling is so much sweeter than when Damian tried to force it. My smiled wavered at the thought of him.
I looked up and saw oliver's sleepy face. "Come, lets sleep." I said urging him to lie down. I adjusted myself so my head would lay on the pillow and i laid stomach down with my head facing away from him. "Good night." I whispered before drifting to sleep.
