SAM RHEE NEEDED A BREAK. The warmth of the sun was all he had as he stood outside of Tessa's cabin with his eyes closed and mind far away.
A tear was hanging on his eye, not ready to fall as he felt a soft breeze blow by him. Powerful yet so innocent. Sam imagined her. Her blonde hair and a chuckle that caused his heart to beat faster.
He missed her. He really did. Maybe even more than he missed his powers. "You're special, Sam," Tessa then spoke from behind him bringing him out of his thoughts.
Sam mused dully as he looked up at the sun squinting his eyes a little. "I didn't finish telling you about your past."
"I was done listening to it," he finally spoke as Tessa frowned a little. Even if Sam was a completely different person from Ammon, a part of his soul was so alike that it made her feel as if it was Ammon she was looking at.
"I revived Ammon but... A loophole was created to his advantage, to be honest..." she trailed off as she walked over to stand next to him as Sam didn't look her way.
Caroline was still on his mind and he seemed to be ready to leave and go to her. "Your powers, Sam. Ammon had them too," she admitted and it was everything he ever wanted to hear.
Sam finally let out a tear and looked down. "Broken, abandoned, an abomination. That's what they called me," he whispered as Tessa stared at him with a frown. "I didn't choose this life. It chose me. And I love my powers. Loved."
"You're right. You were chosen because you're special," she touched his hand and he didn't pull it away as he stared ahead of himself. "It's okay to cry and feel sad, Sam. You've been hiding a human in you because you didn't feel like one all these years. When in reality... You are."
Sam's lips made a line as he glanced at her with an aching face. "You have no idea how much I've wanted to meet you all these years," she smiled then and placed a hand on his cheek. "I watched many you's but... You're the highlight."
"That sounds messed up," he then pulled away from her and turned his back on her. The sun was about to go down as he stared at it.
"After I revived Ammon he had new powers where he was able to read people. Everything and everyone," she confessed as he rolled his brown eyes.
The sun reminded him of Caroline's touch and he didn't want it to go down. She must have hated him for leaving like that.
"Together with him I was able to finally take down Silas."
Two thousand years ago:
Silas was walking through the woods as he stopped abruptly when he saw Qetsiyah outside the tent as she crouched at a bucked water, wringing out a cloth. "What are you doing here?" he asked in panic, knowing something terrible must have happened.
