I woke up in the morning feeling refreshed and happy. I rolled over out of my bed and pulled on my black short shorts and a purple and white stripy sleeveless top. Looking in the mirror i decided to splash my face with cool water to refresh my skin. After that i reapplied my mascara and crossed over the room to get my phone.
I had a text, from Ruby!
"HEY!!! Call me ASAP! I need to talk to you!!! :D :D :D ♥"
I read it wondering what she had to say, so called her.
"Hey!" Ruby answered the phone excitedly.
"Hey! What's going on?" I asked.
"I'm coming to America to visit you!" She was almost shouting with excitement!
"OMG!! REALLY!?" I was shouting! Dad came in wondering what all the commotion was about and i shooed him back out the door.
"YEAH!!! I'm coming Tuesday, we have the whole week off school right!?" She asked cautiously.
"Yeah! omg!! i can't believe it! I'm so happy! yaaay!"
I was almost crying with joy, this is the first time i would have seen Ruby in ages!
"I know! I can't wait, mum got me the tickets for my Birthday, even though it's not for months she knew how much i wanted to see you!"
I loved Ruby's mum, she was always there to comfort me when my mum wasn't.
"Aww this is amazing Rubes! Well, i would love to stay and talk but i have to go, i have plans". I had barelyfinished the sentence when she cut in,
"plans!? With!? doing!? A BOY!?"
I started to laugh at her eagerness at my social life.
"yes, plans! And yes ... with a boy!"
I had to hold the phone at arms length because all i could hear on the other side was Ruby's ear piercing squeals!
"WHO WHEN WHERE!? HOW DID YOU MEET?"
she was shouting down the phone so eager to know the answer.
"calm down and i will tell you!"
So i told her everything, about the ambulances, about bumping into Josh, about bringing him to the cafe, about him getting my number, about yesterday at the stream and about our plans today.
"OH. MY. GOD! How could you not tell me this before!? What the fuck!!? "
She was a huge fan of Josh Hutcherson, She sounded excited for me, but also slightly mad for not telling her sooner.
"I'm sorry i didn't tell you sooner Rubes! I didn't think he's like it if this got all over the news, but we're just friends okay! Nothing more! Just friends!"
I tried to calm her down, but in the end i just had to give up and say i had to go, i promised to call her before she came over here and said goodbye.
As i walked out of my room i saw Dad eating a bowl of steaming porridge, he looked up expecting an explanation for my earlier squealing, I looked at him and said, "Ruby's coming over on Tuesday for a visit" He nodded, as i thought he would, and said to me "that's fine, but you're looking after her!" he winked so i knew he was joking and i walked out the door, down the 8 flights of steps and out the main entrance to wait for Josh.
As i stood there in the heat I started to think to myself, even though me and Josh had been talking to each other constantly for the past two days, i knew barely anything about him! I set a reminder to myself to ask him when we saw each other.
