Caitlyn's POV:
I regained conciousness, but it was still so dark. My eye lids felt heavy, like they were weighed down with a brick on each. I couldn't open them but I could here things, voices. The occasional beep of a monitor, murmured voices in the corner of the room. The door opening once or twice.
I desperately wanted to see around me, so I channelled all the strength left in my body to open my eyes. The bright light hung above me temporarily blinded me leaving white spots on my vision as I scanned the room. It was all so white, it all felt so antiseptic. I took a wild guess that I was in hospital. There was multiple wires attached to my chest and arms, I was hooked up to multiple machines which monitored my health. The beep of one began to get faster when I tried to move.
First I attempted to lift my head, I didn't dare try anything else with no awareness of the damage I had done to my self this time. I glanced down at my leg, and my sudden movement made my head ache. A slight groan left my lips and Josh came rushing to my side.
"Caitlyn? Can you hear me? Caitlyn!" He was almost yelling, he looked so worried. His mouth was left slightly open and his jaw was as magnificent as ever. I smiled as much as my muscles would let me and said, "Josh, it's okay! I'm okay! I'm just slightly dizzy! Sit me up?"
He grabbed my waist and helped me up, placing pillows behind me to lean on. When I was comfortably up he took a seat next to my bed and took my hand. "I'm so glad you're awake" He squeezed my hand tightly and pressed his lips against my knuckle.
"I'm so glad you're here!" I smile at him weakly and squeezed his hand back.
"You lost a lot of blood back there, you've been unconscious for two days!" It all came flooding back to me, the memory of Ruby, the DVD's, the man in the flat. The gun. I jolted my head and looked at my leg, this made me dizzy but I didn't care. There was a bandage all over my leg. I looked back at Josh, "How bad is the damage?"
He looked at me, "You'll be fine, it didn't hit anywhere that can cause permanent damage, but you will be on crutches for a couple of weeks. But luckily, you're alive!" He smiled at me, his eyes filling with tears.
"Why is it always me?" I laughed weakly and looked deep into his eyes, "I don't know, you seem to be a big human magnet for trouble" He squeezed my hand tighter and we sat there in silence for a couple of minutes before the doctor walked in and interrupted.
"Caitlyn! You're awake!" He smiled at me, I was sure this was the same doctor I had last time. "You do remember your name this time? Don't you?" He smiled at me again, yes, this was the same doctor I had been given last time.
"Yes, this time I an fortunate enough to remember my name!" I giggled slightly and the doctor continued to speak.
"Well, the shot was fired into your leg in such a way that it had caused no permanent damage. You will be on crutches for at least two weeks, but you should be thanking the stars it isn't worse! Of course it's a shame it happened anyway but I'm just saying it could have been worse" He started to stutter with nerves so Josh kindly cut in and reassured him we knew what he meant.
"But yes, there was also a couple of questions I needed to ask, first of all it's about your amnesia". My heart began to beat faster, making the machine to my side do so too. Josh sat on the edge of my bed and placed his arm around my shoulders. "It's all right!" He rubbed my back and planted a soft kiss onto my cheek.
I nodded looking back at the doctor. He continued, "Did you remember anything new since you had the accident?" I nodded at him, avoiding any eye contact. "Do you mind telling me them, or would you like to leave it until you feel stronger?"
