Chapter 3 - Dreamer

I sauntered into my local coffee shop, my own personal heaven, ignoring the slightly annoying bell that goes off every time someone enters.

I come here to escape my own vitality and taste the excellence that is their lattê.

I was greeted by the angelic scent of the coffee. I advanced toward a little booth at the back of the café where I would generally sit, as I am a regular customer.

I settled down by the window and started biting my nails nervously as I awaited the person I told I'd meet here. I looked around for a waiter to ask for my order.

The waiter nonchalantly walked over to my booth with his notepad and pen.

I heard the bell above the door ring signalling someone has entered the coffee shop and I looked over at the door and met his gaze, I quickly turned away from him and watched the waiter approach.

"Hi Serenity, the usual?" The waiter or as I know him as, Phil asked.

Phil was a waiter here ever since I started coming here when I was fourteen, he is in university and has brown hair and hazel eyes, he's quite friendly and we would make small talk.

"Yeah." I say half-heartedly, not quite paying attention to Phil but more or so to the boy who is approaching my table.

Phil walked away as Dan sat across from me. Yes. Dan, my ex boyfriend, I texted him shortly after my breakdown telling him to meet me at the coffee shop in twenty minutes.

Dan was sporting a Jack Wills hoodie, baggy jeans and black vans. His sandy brown hair was gelled up in all directions and his sea blue eyes determined looking.

Dan smirked. "Long time no see Sen." I glare at him and felt a small rip in my heart when I heard him say my diminutive.

"Don't call me that. My name is Serenity." I snapped.

Dan rolled his eyes just as Phil sat my coffee down on the wooden table, I quietly thanked him and he returned it with a smile before walking away.

"Dan. Why did you want to speak with me so badly?" I say coldly as I take a sip of my coffee, loving the feeling of the warm sensation flowing through my insides.

"Still stubborn I see, still same old Serenity." Dan says whilst rolling his eyes again.

"If you keep rolling your eyes up to heaven they're going to get stuck like that." I say seriously as I start fiddling with the sugar packet that was sitting on a tray on top of the table.

"Okay in all seriousness. I miss you Serenity." Dan says looking me in the eyes, now it was my turn to roll my eyes.

"Oh please Dan, don't give me none of that. It's not going to work." I say confidently, my mind wandering back to Harry, when I left to meet Dan here, Harry was hesitant about letting me go alone since I broke down crying not ten minutes before. I have to be home in twenty minutes as Harry doesn't want to have to lie to my parents as he said he is trustworthy, I haven't spoke directly to him since before I sprinted out of the living room, I just said I was going out and he told me to be back before my parents.

"I am truly sorry Serenity. You know I loved you, things were just complicated." Dan whispers whilst leaning forward in his seat.

"Dan, things weren't complicated until you made them. Obviously you cheated on me countless amount of times and then you decide to break it off the same day I have to find out that Max died, you're just a horrible person. I'm not here to take you back, I'm simply here to inform you to leave me alone." I say, Dan started getting angry, I could see it in his eyes and his hands trembled a bit.
