The Vow- Part 45

*Mia's P.O.V*

I saw Charlie's Dad sat down on one of the tables beside the pool. He had a newspaper and was reading whilst sipping his coffee. It was a beautiful weather outside and I was surprised he was drinking such a hot beverage. I tip-toed towards him, half smiling as he looked up at me. 'Good afternoon, sir.' 'Take a seat, Mia.' I gulped as I sat down beside him, nervously placing my handbag on the ground. 'What did you want to talk about?' 'Well, sir... My mum's in hospital and I urgently need to pay for her surgery. So I was wonderi-' 'So you're wondering if I could pay you right away?' He finished my sentence and I nodded my head yes. 'It's been six months and I think he really has fallen for you. Great job, Mia.' He pulled out his cheque book and started filling it in. I couldn't help but feel awkward. 'Here you go.' He handed me the cheque and it read, 'TEN-THOUSAND POUNDS?!' I looked up at him, 'Sir, this is far more than we'd agreed?' 'I know.' He smirked, 'Because I want you to leave right this minute. I don't want you seeing my son ever again.' 'What?!' I exclaimed, 'But sir, can't I at least say good bye to him? Can't I talk to him first.' 'NO!' He shook his head, 'Now leave.' He pointed towards the gates. 'But what will you say to him?' 'I'll think of something; you cheated, you died, went abroad? I don't know.' 'But sir,-' 'LEAVE!' I felt tears started rolling down my cheeks, I could see his wrinkles as he frowned at me. 'Please tell him I loved him.' He nodded his head, 'I know deep down you've started loving him too and I'm grateful you've taught him to love but Mia, you're not the girl for him. He's rich, clever, a gentleman and you, well-' 'Poor, dumb and not well mannered. I know, sir. I completely understand...' With that I slowly made my way towards the gates. Goodbye Charlie.
