Kait's POV
"You what now?!?!" I demanded. I just couldn't believe it. The idiot who had not turned his headlights on at night and hit my friend with his car, making her half blind was right across the table from me. I got up and went around the table to his side.
"I'm the one that hit her but let me-" I cut him off and punched him in the gut, getting an "Ow!!!" from him.
"Let me-" he was interrupted by a lady who had come to the ruckus.
"Excuse me,but if it's going to get rough in here please take it outside."
"Yes,ma'am. Very sorry." I said and roughly grabbed Lucas's arm and dragged him outside.
"Let me explain!" he raised his voice as soon as we were outside.
"What." I folded my arms across my chest and glared at him.
"Okay. I was driving one of my friends home because he got too drunk to drive and he forgot to change his headlights because he smashed them the week before. I'm sorry." he said in one long sentence, and held his forearms up to his face to protect himself but made sure he could still see me.
I played with the idea of kicking him in the nuts but decided not to since he apologized.
"Mmmmm okay." I paused as the anger boiled up inside me,and I let it out."But did you know what happened to Rain?! Do you know how scared she is?! Did you know she sometimes still has nightmares with the terror and pain all over again?! Her life is much harder thanks to your friend." I put air quotations when I said 'friend'.
"We're not friends anymore. And my turn to ask a question." Lucas stated.
I raised my eyebrows at him.
"Did you know every day and every time you guys weren't there I went to her door to see if she was okay?" he paused. Stalker. I thought. "My ex-friend didn't even ask if she was okay when I told him what happened." he crossed his arms as he said his next words. "He just asked if she was hot and single." He punched the streetlight pole.
"Hey,hey, hey don't do that... the pole has feelings too ya know." I gently pulled him away and he rested his head on my shoulder. "Umm,you do know that we're in public...right?" I said awkwardly.
"Yes,I know." he pulled his head off my shoulder and locked our eyes together. Damn his eyes are beautiful. He's very hot....I wonder if he likes me? Wait what am I thinking?!
I was so lost in my own head that I hardly registered he was slowly, very slowly leaning in.
