Rain's POV
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Ugh my alarm! Morning already? Oh well. I turn it off and sit up in bed, then go to my dresser to pick out some clothes. I choose a dark blue tank top with pink, white, and violet flowers with some shorts. This is cute. I put on my tennis shoes and walk over to the bathroom to brush my hair.
As I brush my pure white hair, I look more closely at myself and my eye sets upon the image of my other eye. I reach up instinctively and touch below it, at the same time I stop brushing my hair. I look at the faded, cloudy deep blue color that indicates that eye is blind. Sigh. Never again will I see to that side. Stop moping, Rain. Look at the new wonders ahead. I smile. Ethan and Kait will help. I know they will.
I finish brushing and head downstairs to eat some toast. * Munch munch munch*
Ding Dong. "Oh that must be Kait. Bye mom!" I give her a quick kiss and hug.
"Bye sweetie. Do you have your phone?" she asked.
"Yes,I do. See you later! I love you!" I said as I got my stuff and walked out the door.
"Hey Kait." I said. "Hey Rain." She moved to my left. "I'll be your left eye for now." She smiled. We then walked and talked until we got to school.
Ethan's POV
Buzz. Buzz. Buzz. I turned it off. Rain will be back at school. Finally! I missed her. I change into a Nike shirt,a pair of shorts, and my tennis shoes. All Nike. I love Nike.
I go to the bathroom to put gel in my hair and then go downstairs to eat breakfast. Eggs. Yum. I eat the scrambled eggs and grab my stuff. Maybe I should pick them up. Wait no, I should leave them alone. I walked out to my car and drove to school listening to the radio, humming to the song.
*at lunch*
"Hey Kait, Rain." he nodded to both as he walked up to the table with his tray.
"Hey" they said in chorus.
"So Rain, how was your first Monday at school, you know- being half blind?" I asked while sitting across from them.
"Not all easy. At least the popular girls didn't try to shove me or anything." she started while half eating, half picking at her food. "Kait was being my left eye for the classes we had together. When she wasn't,it was a little hard, to be honest. I kept looking back so I could see what was on the other side of me, that I couldn't see normally. And don't even get me started on Jack." she sighed. I feel bad now.
Jack is the most perviest kid in our grade. Every few weeks,or a month, he tries to touch Rain's or Kait's backside or breasts. It's really annoying;especially when I'm not there to shoo him away.
"Hey, Rain, we have the next couple classes together, I'll be your left eye if you want; and I'll shoo Jack away." I hesitate, then I lightly touch her hand with my fingertips and smile warmly.
"Okay. That'll be nice." she said, and I could swear she had a smile going.
Ring! Ring! Ring! The bell. Time for being an extra eye, and being protection for Rain. Goody. "You ready, Rain?" I asked cheerfully. "Yeah." she replied, and smiled. We walked to class together.
In the hall,(as we both suspected) Jack tried touching her backside. The next thing surprised me- by a lot. She used her forearm and shoved it against his neck, pushing him against the wall. And I heard her whisper very sharply " I'm not completely blind you asshole!! Now get the fuck out of my life before I punch you."
I was stunned. Before she could do anything else I gently yanked her arm away and into the classroom to our seats- which we always sat together. "What was that?? Where did it come from!?" I said with wide eyes.
"I'm so sorry, Ethan. I know you don't like it when I curse. I just couldn't take it anymore; I had to stand up for myself." she bowed her head.
Instinctively I reached for her to embrace her in my arms, a hug. "Sh,sh,sh. It's okay; I should've seen it coming."
The bell rang again, so the teacher walked in and we continued with our day. But I still keep that image in my head. I wish you could like me back.
(Sorry this chapter was mostly Ethan's POV. Thanks for reading, have a great day/night)
