Ethan's POV
Of course she does. Rain is..unique. That's why I like her- not just friend wise. I try asking if she's alright, and she just rolls over. I smile at that. At least she didn't lose her memory, because then I'd just...break down. I couldn't stand not having her be able to not remember me. Well, might as well sleep like Kait decided to.
*a few hours later*
Rain's POV
Woah. He's right there- right next to my bed, slumped in a chair asleep. I hope he won't catch me staring. I have had a crush on him since I met him. Unlikely he'll like me back but,a girl can dream. Since he was sitting on my now blind side,I had to swivel my head at an awkward position just to see his face, his shirt, his hotness. That's right.
But in that moment, Kait woke up. She practically knocked her chair down, while struggling to get out of it. I chuckled lightly as she managed to get out and next to my bed. The nurse came in.
"How are you feeling?" she said as I read her nametag. Judy. Nice name.
"Fine. When am I going to be checked out?" by then, it's like my voice was a battery to my Mom and Ethan. They woke up.
"Actually today. You did really well, so you're checking out early." she smiled brightly, sweeped her gaze around at everyone briefly, and walked out the door.
"Hallelujah!"
"Thank goodness!"
"I can't stand another night in this hospital bed, it's not as comfy as my bed at home." I said after my Mom and Kait said what they wanted, Ethan only smiled from ear to ear; then everyone laughed. It's good to feel normal- even though I can't see the wall to my left.
*when I get checked out*
"Group hug!!" Kait called out once we got back to my house.
"Gah!" I was captured and dragged to the group hug. All of a sudden I felt a sharp pain at my shoulder "Ouch!" I winced and pulled away. I forgot to mention, I was at an angle when the car hit, so the car also split my shoulder a little- from impact. Sigh. Will this ever be a normal life again? Will I ever get used to adjusting what I knew?
"Sorry!" he hugged me individually, and gently. "I was just so happy to see you being yourself."
I basically melted inside at his smile. He makes me feel so safe when he smiles that sorry, but happy that I'm okay smile. My cheeks feel hot. Oh no. Am I blushing!? Oh crap- I don't want him to know that I like him!
I clear my throat. "So how about we go inside now?" I didn't even wait for an answer. I bolted to the kitchen and sat in a kitchen chair. Whew! Too close Rain, way too close. I sigh- again.
Ethan's POV
I'm standing here, looking at her. The funny part is, I can see her cheeks starting the be the color pink. And it's not super cold out.
"So how about we go inside now?" she bolted inside. Strange. She's usually not like this.
"Hmm. Maybe she's just a little jumpy from the accident-cars coming by. We should go in too." I said after she shut the front door.
Just then Kait hooked her arm around my neck, like siblings would, and dragged me forward. "C'mon! Rain still needs help getting around with the adjustment." She grabbed my hand and yanked me inside.
"Hey! I gotta use that arm later!" I said.
" 'Hey' is for horses" Kait winked. Rain just laughed in her kitchen chair.
"What time is it?" Rain's mom asked while walking over to the clock. "Oh my, that late? It's 6:00. You two can stay for dinner as long as your parents are okay with it."
"Thanks Ms. Mueller, but I'll be going home." I smiled in a friendly way; I turn to Kait. "Kait if you're going home too,I can drive you."
"Okay. Rain, do you want me to stay?" Kait moved over to her good eye.
"No, it's fine. You've been away from home long enough." Rain smiled at Ethan and Kait. I love you guys.
"Alright, see you tomorrow at school? Or should I come over in the morning?"
"How about you come over..?" Rain said more in a question.
"Great. See you tomorrow." Kait and Ethan walked out the door and got in the car to drive home.
Rain's POV
"Spaghetti?" Mom asked.
"Yes please!" I said as she set my plate on the table.
*after dinner*
"Uhhhhhhh" I moaned as I flopped onto my bed. "So tired..."
And just like that I fell asleep.
