scene two

     COLD air swept around the plain chambers. Lilith was laying on the floor once more and the girl she had first encountered a couple of weeks before, had taken to silently watching her. Everyday she would remain still, just sitting on the floor studying little Lilith, and everyday, Lilith would stare right back. Today however, marked the start of the progression between the two girls. 

"I am Eurus Holmes," she slowly stated. Lilith sat upright and crossed her legs, staring wide-eyed at the girl. She tilted her head as she contemplated whether or not to talk to the strange child. 

"I'm Lilith Beche. Lili for short," she responded. They wordlessly looked at one another as if really seeing each other for once in their lives. 

"Why must you shorten your name? Lilith is not soft enough?" Eurus asked. Lilith was slightly taken aback- this girl was still speaking to her. Usually the children would walk away from her as soon as she uttered a word; her monotone voice often scared them. 

"No, my mother would call me that. I saw it fit to tell everyone that, like she would." 

"Why not do what you want?" 

Lilith squinted her eyes and tilted her head. Eurus really stumped her there, but then again, she had just truly met the girl and she was communicating with her after weeks of no talking. 

Lilith shrugged and responded. "I suppose it's not everyday someone talks to me, so when they do, I do what they want me to. I'm always by myself, my sister never really talked to me either." 

She was not sure why she was telling Eurus all of this, but they were around the same age, and she looked like she was very interested in the topic. 

"My brother never paid attention to me-" she tilted her head- "you seem to understand the situation I'm in." Her lip twitched and went back to her expressionless state. 

"Perhaps. How did you get in here?" 

Eurus shook her head and moved to lay on the bed. Lilith frowned at the girl's retreating figure, and just then a guard walked into the room. He stared hard at them both, and looked towards the camera attached to the ceiling. One nod, then he looked back towards the girls. 

"Are you both hungry?" He asked in a rather bored tone. 

Lilith just looked at him and softly smiled. It seemed that every time she did that to people, they would soften up and walk towards her. In this case, the guard did just that; although, he did stop at the three feet distance line. Lilith huffed and shook her head, causing the guard to turn away and leave the room. 

When she turned to the other chamber, Eurus was curiously gazing at her like she had been for the past weeks. Lilith stood up and slowly walked towards the glass wall separating them both. Eurus stood and copied her movements until they were both standing inches away from the glass. 

Eurus placed her small hand on the glass and tapped it with her fingers. Lilith did the same and tilted her head one way, while Eurus tilted hers another. They backed up and continued to silently soak up each other's appearance. Minutes passed and a couple of other guards had come in to check on them, but both paid no attention to them. 

After an unknown amount of time, Lilith and Eurus smiled at one another and nodded once. Then they both went to their beds and slept the rest of the day away. That was were it all began.
