First date!

" What the hell were you thinking" Rikki said. She had cornered me in the courtyard and was interrogating me on Austin.

" I wasn't" I said truthfully " It wasn't my fault"

" You let him run away"

" And?"

" What happened?"

" Nothing"

" Do you like him?"

" No, not like that"

" He likes you" She said smugly.

" How would you know?" I asked.

" Dude, its kinda obvious"

"Yeah well I don't like him like that" I replied shoving her away and walking towards where the others were.  Charlie looked up expectantly when I approached. I shook my head and laughed when his expression eased.

" What was that all about?" He asked.

" Austin, she wants to know everything" I said pointing to Rikki.

" Ooh whats to know?" He said leaning closer.

" Thats not your business" I replied. He pouted.

" Yeah, but it is mine" Jay cut in, he grabbed my arm and dragged me away from the others. When we were far enough away that they wouldn't hear, Jay said, " So what was Rikki mad about"

" Nothing, I just ditched detention" I replied.

" Thats all, why was she mad?"

" Well I ditched with Austin" I said, I held my breath. Jay pinched the bridge of his nose and looked down.

" Why?" He asked.

" I don't know"

" I thought you hated the guy"

" I did, but hes ok"

" What happened?" He asked. I didn't want to tell him but I had never lied to Jay.

" We got pizza and went to the beach"

" Did he try anything?"

" Why does it matter?"

" Because surprisingly enough I care about you"

" Yeah, but nothing happened" I said. I started to walk back. Jay caught my arm and pulled me back.

" Be careful Brooke" He said softly, he let go and I walked back to the others. Rikki had obviously talked to the others. Charlie was resting his head on his hand and looking thoughtful, Jazz was walking away across the courtyard to class and Rikki was kicking a stone.... Arkward!

The bell went and lunch was over, I walked to History class with Charlie, Jay, and Rikki. Charlie was piggy-backing Rikki and Jay was poking her trying to make her fall off.

The rest of the day was uneventful until last period where we had Maths. Halfway through the lesson Austin passed me a note. It read: " Wanna go on a date with me tomorrow, to Splash Centre ( Theme park) "  I thought about it. I was friends with Austin and I didn't know if I liked him in any other way but at the same time there was something about him. Maybe it was his mood swings or his ability to annoy me and then be so sweet.

" Sure" I replied. Across the room Austin smiled at me.

School was over and I was walking to Austin's brother's car... He had a 19 year old brother called Callum. I had never met him before but I had heard about him. We got into the Volvo and Callum drove us out of town to the Splash Centre. I had been a few times when I was younger and it was just as I remembered, you could see the watercourse winding down the outside of the building and the tide pools though the window. We parked and Austin opened my door. I got out and stood and waited for Austin.

" Have fun you two" Said Callum wiggling his eyebrows exactly like Austin had done.

" We will, thanks Callum" I said.

" Don't be too much of a perv when she's in her swimming togs " He warned, pointing at Austin.  I grinned and waved to him as he pulled out and drove away.

" Come on Brooke" Said Austin as he pulled me into the building. I followed him in and the place was packed.

After we had changed I ran out to find him and chose a ride, I ran out and he was standing by the entrance to the waterslides. He was waiting, I walked over to him.

" Wow" He said

" What?" I asked shyly.

" You look amazing"

" Perv" I said, pushing him.

" Race you" he said and sprinted away towards the top. I ran after him. Up the metal stairs and around all the corners. When we finally got to the top we were both panting.

" You go first" He said nodding to the slide. I got into it and waited for the light to go green. It flashed green and I pushed off down into the blackness of the slide. I had been sliding for only a few seconds when something hit me in the back. I squealed and behind me someone laughed.

" Got ya " Austin said, his voice was tinged with laughter.

" Austin," I complained " That was mean"

" Really, I'm sorry, I'll make up for it" He said clearly still amused. I couldn't see him in the darkness but I could tell he was smiling. 

" How?" I asked stubbornly.

" I'll think about it" He replied as we slid back into the light.

Afterwards we spent another half hour on the slide and then Austin went and brought us each a sand which and a fizzy. When we had finished we went and swim in the tide pool and jumped waves. After wards he suggested going and sitting in the picnic spot outside the centre. We went and found a nice spot under some trees. He had brought a pizza and he put it on the grass and grabbed a slice. He lay back in the grass and I lay next to him. He wrapped his arm around me. I lay there eating pizza and looking at clouds.

" Was that fun?" Austin asked almost nervously. I never thought Austin could be nervous.

I smiled " very" I said and snuggled closer. He turned to face me.

" You know you really are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen" He said as  he smiled his real smile. I smiled back. His eyes flickered to my lips. I knew what he was thinking and suddenly I wanted him to kiss me. I looked at his lips and he leaned closer. I leaned in too and closed my eyes. He pressed his lips gently to mine. My stomach turned, I could feel the sensation of butterflies taking over and I forgot where I was and I kissed him back. He deepned the kiss and brought his hand to my face, running his fingers down my cheek. He pulled away and I smiled.

" That was amazing" He smiled. He rubbed his hand along my shoulder and pulled me closer I lay back down on Austin's chest.
