Heaven can't exist without Hell

I woke up to the sun shining through the window. I turned over and yelped. Jay lifted his head and sleepily opened his eyes.

" Tryin to sleep here Brooke" He murmured.

" What the hell are you doing in my bed?" I asked

" Hunting elephants, what does it look like I'm doing?" He said before resting his head on the pillow.  I laughed.

" Fine, but you have to get up soon" I said. I gave him a quick kiss. He smiled his crooked smile and my heart jumped. I grabbed some clothes and got changed in my bathroom. Then I went out to find the others. Charlie was sitting on the couch flipping through a tourist's guide to L.A. Rikki hadn't come out of her room yet. I plonked myself down next to Charlie and started to read over his shoulder. The page he was reading advertised a zip line in the Hollywood hills.

" Shall we go there?" Charlie asked.

" Sure, why not?" I replied and hurried back to my room to get Jay out of bed. He was sitting on the bed looking out the window. I sat down next to him, he wrapped his arms around me.

" We're going zip lining in the Hollywood hills" I told him.

" Great, now get me out of bed" He said grinning. He held out his hands and I pulled him up out of bed. He wrapped his hands around my waist and kissed me before we walked back into the living room.

" So, are you guys dating for real this time?" Rikki asked grinning.

" Yes we are" Jay said smiling.

We arrived at the zip line and took the gondola up to the top.

" Your first" Charlie said to me.

" No way" I shook my head. Rikki stepped up to the platform and  and grabbed the zip line, she pushed off and wooped as she flew through the trees down the hill to the bottom. Charlie was next and did the same as Rikki. I was next and as I pushed off I looked down the Los Angeles swimming and whirling below me and I smiled.

We got home just after the sun had sank. We had gone shopping after the zip line. We had a simple dinner of take away pizza and then we watched a movie. Afterwards me and Jay headed to bed. I got changed and so did Jay, then I went and lay in bed. He lay down next to me and wrapped his arms around me and whispered " I love you Brooke". I smiled. " I love you too" I said to him, he pulled me closer and breathed into my hair.

I heard a text come through on my phone.... Way to ruin the moment. I grabbed it.

My heart literally stopped. 

The text was from Austin.... It read:  " Brooke you need to get out of your hotel now. I can't tell you why, I need to stay alive.... RUN."

" JAY!" I screamed. He bolted upright and fell out of bed in his boxers. He ran over and grabbed my phone. He went pale.

" We're getting out of here NOW!" He said trying to remain calm. He grabbed my hand and sprinted into the living room.

" Everybody out now!" Jay yelled at the others. Rikki jumped and laughed.

" Nice joke guys" She said.

" We're not joking, we need to get out of here" Jay said to her panicking. She dropped the dish clothe and ran out the door closely followed by Charlie. Jay grabbed a knife and followed us.  Once in the corridor we sprinted to a lift and down to the lobby. Once out of the hotel, we ran down the street until my phone buzzed again. I looked at it. It was from an unknown number the same one the weird texts were from. It read: "I warned you.... you can't hide by running to Los Angeles. I will catch you" 

" Jay look at this" I said handing him the phone. He gasped.

" Brooke we need to keep running" He said. I started to run and saw the buildings flash by. My phone buzzed again and I stopped and leaned against a shop window. The others leaned in to read the text.. I read the text. It was from the unknown number... It read: " I see you"...

I screamed in terror and whipped my head around impossibly fast.

My eyes fell on a figure standing in the shadows... They stepped forwards and I screamed. Jay stood frozen in a terrified scream beside me. My terror was so much my heart felt like it would fail at any moment........ I knew the face of the person who stood before us.....
