I looked back at the house. It looked quiet and peaceful... well it did until Charlie came racing out dragging two suitcases desperately trying to outrun Rikki who was chasing him yelling for him to give them back. I laughed at them before I grabbed my last suitcase and put it in the boot. Jay walked out of the house carrying his suitcase he put it in the car and got into the drivers seat. I joined him in the passenger seat and Charlie and Rikki got the back. We headed out of the driveway and towards the airport.
When we arrived at the airport Charlie decided to try to carry as many of our suitcases as possible. Which was fine cos I didn't have to carry anything. We did all the checking in stuff and we made our flight in perfect time. We found our seats I was sitting next to Charlie. He had called dibs on the window seat though. Jay sat across he aisle with Rikki at the window. The plane left the runway and I waved goodbye to Queenstown. I put in my earphones and quiet soon I had drifted off to sleep.
" Brooke!" Charlie said in my ear shaking me.
" What do you want" I mumbled.
" We're landing in L.A" He said shaking me. I sat up immediately and we swapped seats.
I gasped. Los Angeles was spread out below me. It was a sight to take your breath away. The city was lit up with multi coloured lights and they tinged the sky red. The sprawling hills were glowing gold and the mansions and hotels shone in the city light. I was finally seeing The City Of Angels. I felt the tears escaping from my eyes. I wiped them away. I turned back to the others.
" Do you like it?" Jay asked.
" I love it" I breathed. He grinned.
When we landed I go out of the plane onto American soil and into Los Angeles. I stood there for a moment frozen, staring at the city. Jay pulled me into the airport to collect our bags and then we found a taxi and drove to our hotel. We had a large suite with bedrooms for each of us, a spa, and an amazing view of the city. I dumped my bags in the living room.
" I dibs the biggest room" Jay yelled sprinting off to find the biggest room.
" Second" Rikki yelled.
" Third" I grinned.
" God damn it" Charlie said defeated.
I found my room it was white and had a single bed in the centre, It had some shelfs and bedside tables and a bathroom. I walked back out onto the balcony. I sat at the table that was there and looked out at the city. It must have been past midnght. The city was moving and swirling with lights. I sighed and stared out at the place I had been dreaming about since I was a little kid. I closed my eyes and listened to the sounds of L.A. I felt myself drifting off to sleep. But before I was fast asleep I could have sworn someone picked me up and took me inside.
I woke up In my bed, it was warm and the sun was shining in through my windows. I got up and walked drowsily into the kitchen.
" Mornin sleepy head" Jay said from the kitchen where I could smell eggs and bacon cooking.
" Morning" I said. I went to my bathroom and took a quick shower. When I got out breakfast was ready. I sat down and helped myself the a large portion. When I was finished. I went outside and looked out at Los Angeles in the daylight. It looked amazing. Someone came up behind me and wrapped their hands around my waist. I smiled and watched the sun climb into the morning sky.
