I need a vacation!

I was sitting at the kitchen table, flipping through Hunter's Basketball playbook. I was eating a sand which and watching cartoons on tv.... don't judge! I was tired of thinking about school I just needed to talk to someone sane.

" Oi Hunter" I called to Hunter who was rummaging though the kitchen cupboard, probably looking for the chocolate... which was in my stomach.

" Yeah?" He answered.

" Can you teach me Basketball?" I asked, I already knew most of it but I needed to distract myself.

" Later, I'm lookin for the chocolate I gotta pack" He replied. Guess I'm gonna be miserable all day.

" Pack? for what?"

" I thought Mum told you... we're going down to Fiordland for a few days... we leave tomorrow morning" He said casually... I jumped up and yelled. I wanted to jump around, I haven't been on holiday since I was 5 so this was a big deal.

" Is Ry coming?" I asked. Ryan had been packing to move out for a while and he was set to move out in a few days.

" Yeah I think so" He shrugged.

" Thanks" I said. I ran upstairs and got my suitcase, I packed way to many clothes and by the time it was dark I had stuffed my suitcase to breaking point. I called Jay, Charlie, and Rikki... I had to also explain to Rikki and Charlie about the whole pregnancy situation. They were sad, but I'd be back in a few days. I ate dinner in double quick time and went to bed early because we had to be up 5:00 in  the morning.

The next morning

" Get up lazy bones" Chase said, shaking me. I sat up drowsily and rubbed my eyes.

" Leave me alone" I mumbled. Chase laughed.

" We're leaving soon" He said. I opened my eye and remembered. I stood up and shooed Chase out so I could get changed.

Half an hour later and we were in the car on our way to the airport. 

When we got there we all got our suitcases out. Luke helped me with mine and Hunter dropped his a lot... a lot. We headed towards " Domestic Departures". I was jumping around inside from excitement. On the way though the carpark Jesse thought it was a good idea to see how fast his airport trolley could go while carrying him and how fast he could go while trying not to be smoushed by cars. Which resulted in him almost being run over and having a lecture by airport security. By the time Jesse was let go, we were late for our flight. We had to run as fast as we could to find our gate. But by some miracle my disfunctional family made it on time and soon enough we were on a tiny plane on our way to Fiordland. The flight was quiet short and soon enough we touched down in an " airport" aka field. I could already see the thick forest that bordered the airport. After we had got off the plane we went into the airport and found our rental car.

We were staying at  a lodge. It was hidden in the forest, it was huge and made of pine trees. There was only one other car there so we pulled up and got out. I had to get help from Ryan to carry my suitcase. Inside the  lodge it was very big and there was a small check-in area. My Dad checked us in and we went up to find our room. My parents, Luke, Hunter, and Jesse decided to look around while Ryan and I stayed to unpack. I started unpacking my suitcase.

" What do you think?" Ryan asked.

" Its beautiful" I smiled gesturing at the room.

" Yeah, its pretty cool" He grinned. " Heard from your friends?" He asked.

" Nah, I should text them" I sighed. I reached into my suitcase for my phone, but my hand touched cold metal. I lifted the item out of my suitcase...... It was a large knife... I knew I had never packed one.

" What was the point of this prank?" I asked Ryan, holding it up so he could see.

" I didn't do that" He said, " But it could scare someone I suppose"

" Probably one of the others then" I smiled.

I waited for my other brothers to get back too. I unpacked the rest of my suitcase. When the boys returned I gathered them.

" Ok, Who's idea was this?" I asked holding up the knife.

Nobody answered.

" Seriousy who did it, by the way it didn't scare me so you failed" I said.

" I swear I didn't" Jesse said. I could tell he was telling truth .

" Neither" Said Luke and Hunter, as far as I could tell they wern't lying either.

" Brooke, I don't think anyone here did it" Chase said.  That was weird. I put it back and went into the living room. Dad was making sandwiches in the kitchen. I grabbed one off the board and sat down at the table. I wolfed it down.

" I wanna go explore" I said when I had finished.  

I Went downstairs and out the door. I found a trail and headed out into the forest. It was green and lush, The trees were huge and boarded the path. I could hear the birds singing in the trees and I kept walking. I heard water and headed for it. I found a huge waterfall that fell into a perfect swimming hole. I sat on the rocks on the side and watched the water falling

I got back to the lodge at sunset. My parents were making dinner and Luke was helping them. The others were up in their room. I headed up and got my phone, I checked my texts. There were two from Jay, two from Charlie, one from Rikki and one from an unknown number.

Jay's first one  read: " Hey lil B, Havin fun?" and the second read: " Hey B, message me pweese, I'm lonely. miss u :p" I smiled.

Charlie's first one said " Hey, hope ur enjoying ur holiday, save soem fun for when you get back" and his second " Brooooke answer!" I laughed, he was so impatient.

Rikki's read " Hey Brooke, come back soon please!"

Then I looked at the unknown number, I didn't recognize it. It read: " I suggest you don't come back.... for your own good" I stared at it for a long time, I had a strange feeling and it wasn't a good one.
