"please?"

Wednesday came around quick, Sade and Val had finished setting up the last of their decorations for the holidays. Nothing extravagant but if they got lazy afterwards, they could toss a couple things and leave the rest giving it a more home-y feel.

The group didn't hang out but exchanged numerous texts in their groupchat, finalizing plans and just goofing around. Dings went off every second causing the house to never be silent. Val looked around for a job those couple days, Sade already had one and Val needed something, she wasn't about to just spend all her savings.

She saw the music store was in need of a piano teacher, she took lessons as a kid and loved it, she hadn't played in years but she was sure she could still remember. Maybe she could try that or the antique shop since she had a love for those kind of things. She applied everywhere with a sign, surely they needed seasonal. Anything to get her by, maybe she'd go back to school next fall although she had no solid idea of what she wanted. She kept an eye on the thrifted house phone, the soft pink cord dangling off the counter- too lazy to be hung up.

"You can't just sit around the phone Val." Sade teased as she leaned across from Val on the counter. Val sat on a stool on the other side, an open view that separated the kitchen from the dining room.

"Why aren't they calling yet?" She huffed as she rested her chin on the palm of her hand.

"It's been like three days, give it time!" She chuckled as she playfully slapped the counter. "Besides, they also have your cell number so you can go out without a single worry." She grinned.

Val sighed in response. She was right, the waiting game would get her nowhere. And besides, they were gonna be skating tomorrow evening and she wasn't going to miss that, even if Emily tagged along.

No one really brought her up, of course. According to Sammy, being the group's confidential informant-he came in 'spilling tea' (as Sade called it), Josh felt a little sign of hope that maybe Emily did change for good. Of course he wasn't ready to find out for himself just yet but Sade thought he was just being soft considering their history. She didn't buy it one bit and Jake was right by her side in agreement.

Danny and Val didn't say much about it, they didn't feel like it was their place. After all love can make you do stupid things.

Emily was around at the Kiszka home often and the brothers were at least happy they were on break because if they were working then they really would've had a problem but if she was out of their sight, she was out of their mind. For the most part.

Josh didn't say if he genuinely wanted to be around her or if she was inviting herself around but he was always with her.

Sade was right of course. Josh did have a soft spot for Emily, even if he tried to bury it away.

He laid in bed later that night, hand under his head- staring off at the ceiling. Replaying what happened after the show.

Josh

The crowd was chanting, adrenaline took over nerves. Sade and Valencia were being so encouraging but I suddenly remembered. I was anxious all over again but turned around in a split second.
