It was Wednesday morning, and Monique sat in one of the prison visiting booths as she watched a police officer slowly bring her sister, Jada in.

Jada winced at the tight handcuffs around her waist as she lowered her head for a brief while, before finally lifting her head up to face Monique who held a warm and hopeful smile on her face. She pressed her hand on the glass divider and leaned in, with her eyes not leaving hers.

"Hey, how are you doing?" asked Monique.

Jada gaped at her formal outfit bewildered, before flicking her eyes back to her. "I'm just trying to get by, but don't worry about me... is everything okay? are you okay?" Jada questioned, whilst gazing into her eyes deeply. She looked back up at the police officer, who faced forward pretending not to listen in on their conversation, before rolling her eyes away.

"I'm doing well... I've actually been meaning to tell you, I got a job as a Secretary" said Monique, with a smile etching at the corner of her lips.

"You what?" Jada chuckled, looking at her as if she was joking. "How you get a job like that, don't you need to finish college or something to have a job like that?".

Monique stared down at her wrist for a couple seconds, before opening her mouth to speak up. "Well, I met this man... his name is David Morris" she began. "Our first meeting was a long story, but he wanted to offer me a job as a Secretary, at first I thought he was crazy and only wanted something in return from me, but I've been working for him for three weeks now and I've just never met anybody like him" she explained, before thinking back to David.

"You met a man... who just offered you a job just like that?" Jada scoffed, arching her brow at her. "Hell naw, Mo, tell me you're joking. Since when did you become so naive and trusting of some man?! men are all the same and they all want one thing, we've been over that so what makes you think he's different?!".

"Before I met him I was sleeping with different men much older than me every week for money to bail you out" she breathed out, as Jada quickly hung her mouth low in shock. "He told me that he believes in me, and he looks at me like I'm special... not as a prostitute or anything like that. I can't believe I'm saying all this, but if it wasn't for him, then I'd still be fucking random men because I thought that it was the only thing I could do".

As she finished of her sentence, silence quickly filled the air for a brief moment. Monique quickly lifted her hands up to wipe away the tear that she didn't know was rolling down her eyes as she focused her attention back on her sister. Ever since their mother had threw them out of the house, she had promised to protect her and never let her do all the bad things she did, but she couldn't keep her promise after all, and it pained her knowing what she had to go through because of her.

"I'm so sorry" Jada exclaimed speaking up. She pressed her hands against the glass, as Monique slowly lifted her head back up to face her.

She pushed her hair back and let out a deep breath as her eyes began to water. "When I get you outta here, promise me you won't do any of that shit that put you in here okay" she pleaded. "Promise you won't do no more drugs, or fuck around with those bad people you used to hang with or steal anymore things, alright".

Jada stared at her desperate and pleading face, before slowly nodding her head and clutching back her hands together. She was about to speak up, but was quickly interrupted by the police officer clearing his throat. "Alright, time's up" he spoke, sternly and harshly before pulling Jada up from the seat. Monique watched as she got taken away, before running her hand down her face, and turning to look around at the others who came to visit their loved ones. She watched as a mother sobbed at the sight of her daughter in handcuffs, before getting up from her seat to slowly walk away.
