As most of them members of the group chat arrived at Pete's house for the New Years Party, Brendon's mom was constantly nagging him about Sarah.
"She so sweet Brendon, why do you barely have her over?" She said. Brendon fixedhis hair the best he could and said "Mom I should go..." he saw his mom looking disappointed, "I don't want to hold up Sarah" she nodded and shooed him out saying stuff like "Send me pictures" or "Have fun!"
Brendon Ubered to Sarah's because he isn't old enough to drive yet. As he passed time on he ride he checked his phone notifications.

Brendon put his phone away, seeing as he was just arriving to Sarah's. He hopped out of the car and saw Sarah standing on her front lawn shivering slightly. Almost immediately he took off his jacket and threw it around her.
"About time you showed up" She laughed.
"Excuse me, but I'm two minutes early" he shot back, "now let's go inside it's freezing" she nodded and led him inside where there were a lot more people that he recognized from school.

Brendon put his phone away once he started hearing people count down. He made his way into the living room where he spotted Sarah standing just outside the group.He squeezed his way through and slowly grabbed her hand. She jumped, startled by the contact, slowly relaxing when she saw it was him.
"Let's go outside" he whispered. She smiled and led him to the backyard, where the noise was now muffled and more quiet.
Outside, Sarah started to shiver again but he didn't let her get a jacket, instead he took off his and draped it across her shoulders. She mouthed a 'thank you' and looked up at the stars.
