Recap:
"Being your rebound is a concern for you, not me. I don't care if that's what it looks like. I honestly don't even care if that's what it is."
He paused as he stepped closer to me. I looked down at my feet to signal to him how hard it was for me to end whatever we had going on. Instead he lifted my head by cupping my cheek. Using his free hand, he brushed a piece of my hair out of my face and spoke, "Because being your rebound would be the best claim to life I'll ever have. Any reason to be around you is enough for me Payson. Just let me appreciate you."
I looked at his eyes searching for a lie or loophole and I couldn't find anything. He was serious.
I nodded my head still staring into his face. "Okay." I said giving in.
"It doesn't have to be title. We can go on as friends as long as I get to do this still." he kissed me. His kiss was delicate and sweet.
Just like him.
Love, Pain or just Plain Pleasure
It had been three weeks since Nate and I's talk. Things were good. I wasn't speaking to Tyson or Josh. I would speak to Tyler occasionally. I ate lunch with Blake and Allision and a group of our other friends, Will. He was a dark haired guy with light stubble that he was growing out and plump red lips. He was a chick magnet. Kara, she was a short blonde. She was Will's friend with benefits but she was a really cool chick. I think she had a little crush on Blake though. There were a couple others that ate at the table but they were usually annoyingly asking questions about Tyson so I avoided them for the meantime.
Blake and I had come to be really close in the past few weeks. Usually bonding over his brother. I smiled at the thought of him.
Griffin.
I usually came over here early every morning, at his invite, and he'd make me breakfast and send me off to school. It was now Saturday morning and I'd spent the night here. Marge tells my mom that I sleep in the guest room in the main house so my mom doesn't go bonkers. I doubt she would even care if she knew the truth because of the "Van" blood I'm spending time with.
I listened to him singing along to the song Latch which was playing off of my iphone. He was so cute.
He was good to me.
He was perfection.
He was a friend.
And he was an excellent cook.
"You make the best waffles babe." I said stuffing my face.
I was oddly comfortable around him. It's like I didn't have any emotional barriers around him. I couldn't push him away. He wouldn't let me if I even tried. It's like he healed all the pain I've felt in a while.
"I was the only one in the males housing that knew how to use the stove." he explained with a laugh.
"Why do you only drink smoothies and fatten me up?"
"I don't like breakfast foods. I mean I love waffles. I eat them occasionally. It's just usually me here. Id rather eat a little smoothie then make a meal."
"So you like cooking but not eating."
"I love cooking." he corrected. "That's why I love having you here. It's the best of both worlds."
