) chapter 3. (
HER fingers run through her now black locks, pulling and twirling them out of nervousness. Laeherys knows she always had the habit to play with her hair or clothes when her anxiety takes over.
She was wearing a light blue dress with a rather deep neckline and no sleeves. By her waist there was some fabric cut out, exposing the flesh there. A little red rose connects the top and bottom part.
Laeherys, now disguised as Laella, sits next to Lady Tyrell on deck, inhaling the salty seawind. House Tyrell has decided to take the short route overseas instead of the long one over land, and so they will sail into the harbor of King's Landing in no time.
"How are you, darling," the older Lady asks, her bright green eyes looking at her with the love of a mother. Laeherys smiles at her, though it seems a little weak.
"Overall fine, just a little.. scared." Lady Tyrell smiles back at her and pinches the girl's cheek lovingly. "I know it is scary, little dragoness, especially as you've been in that tower all your life. But it is necessary to prevent our secret from being exposed."
The young princess nods. A silence falls between them while the ship lulls on the waves of the water.
A few hours later shouts errupt all around the two and Lady Tyrell smiles. "The look-out spotted King's Landing, we will be arriving shortly," she remarks as she stands up gracefully.
"We need to join the others on the front of the ship. Come, darling." Laeherys quickly walks after the Lady, who was walking towards the front.
There the Lord of Highgarden, Mace Tyrell, and his mother, Lady Olenna, stand and they look out to the capital of the Seven Kingdoms. Laeherys feels a sort of nostalgia, though she has never seen the place where she was born, nor did she remember it.
The ship hits the wharf and men begin to walk around, throwing ropes to the sides to tie the boat to land. The Tyrells and their entourage walk of the ship and greet the Baratheons and Lannisters waiting for them.
Laeherys studies the now royal family. King Joffrey looks scrawny and has an evil glint in his green eyes. She could see he was proud to wear the crown on his head.
Next to him stands Cersei Lannister, mother of the King, the princess and the prince. Her hair is long and wavy, the golden locks hanging loose. She was wearing a blood red dress, tight fitted and beautiful.
Then there was the famous Kingslayer, Jaime Lannister, the one who murdered her father. The Imp, prince Tommen, princess Myrcella, the Hand Tywin Lannister.. Laeherys was impressed and intimidated.
Princess Laeherys studies Loras and Margaery. They both had the auburn curling locks that Lady Alerie told her about. Both look absolutely gorgeous. No wonder King Joffrey fell for her, she thinks.
"Lord Tyrell, it is nice to finally meet you in person," Lord Tywin says, stepping forward to greet the Tyrell family. Lord Tyrell shakes hands with the Hand of the King. "Let me introduce you to my wife, Alerie of Houses Tyrell and Hightower."
All eyes turn to Lady Alerie and so also on Laeherys, who stands right next to her. Not only Tywin, but also Cersei, Tyrion and Jaime notice the pale lilac of her irises. They all share quick glances, but say nothing of the child.
"It is nice to meet you, my Lady," he says, kissing the hand of Lady Tyrell. She curtsies for the Hand and bows her head in respect. "It is an honour to be here in King's Landing to attend our Houses' union, Lord Tywin."
The Baratheons, Lannisters and Tyrell begin their walk to the Red Keep through King's Landing. Laeherys notices how everyone looks at the royals in disgust. Some men even spit down from their balconies onto the guards. She knows that they dislike the royal family very much. The young princess wonders if they did the same to her father, who was also very much disliked by his people.
She stays close to Lady Tyrell as the people threatened to come closer and fight the Lannisters and their King. Lady Tyrell's hand closes around the young girl's wrist and pulls her behind her once the people begin to pounce on the guards.
Margaery, the daughter of Lady Alerie, joins the side of her mother. "Do not fret, mother. The Kingsguard is very good in their job." Lady Tyrell frowns at her daughter. "I don't fear for my own life, sweetling, but for yours and that of our entourage."
The blue eyes of Margaery flash quickly over Laeherys, who casts her eyes down in lighting speed. "Who is this young woman, mother? I've never seen her before in your presence?" "A new handmaiden I installed. My old handmaiden was sick and could not join us."
"How unfortunate," the future Queen mutters, looking lazily over Laeherys small, tender and fragile figure. "Come, mother, the guards are clearing the way for us." She locks arms with her mother and they walk together, leaving Laeherys on her own with the other servants. She quickly follows the guards, scared to be left alone with the people that want to avenge them on their King.
The walk was not long, but it felt like hours for her, mostly because she was feeling scared and there was no one to converse with. She misses Aleia: though it was a bad thought, she liked it that Aleia had been locked up in the tower with her. It ensured that there was always someone there for her. But now.. she was on her own in the lion's den.
Laeherys grabs her skirts as they walk onto the stairs. Servants walk all around her as they grab the luggage and bring them to the appointed rooms. She walks after them, but the firm hand of Lady Tyrell around her arm stops her.
"You stay with me, I don't trust the Lannister servants with you. Especially not the males," she whispers darkly, her eyes glaring at the servants that were oggling her handmaiden. Of course, the innocent Laeherys was oblivious to their eyes and looks in confusion at her mother figure.
Before the young princess could ask what she meant with that, they were interrupted. "Is everything in order, my Lady," a deep, masculine voice asks. It almost sounded seductive, sweet as honey. Lady Tyrell and Laeherys look at the Kingslayer, who was staring at the two ladies.
"I am just concerned for my handmaiden's wellbeing, ser Jaime. She does not take trips overseas very well, I wanted to assure that she was not sick." Jaime Lannister narrows his eyes at the young handmaiden of Lady Tyrell, whose eyes escape his quickly.
"If it assures you, Lady Tyrell, I can take her to your chambers," he drawls. Lady Tyrell looks conflicted, in Laeherys' eyes. She was hesitant on leaving the Targaryen alone with a Lannister, especially the one who murdered her father.
"I-Yes, if you could I would appreciate it," she says, giving in. Ser Jaime smirks and looks at the girl in Tyrell clothing. "Follow me, young thing. And don't get lost," he says, walking off in a direction. Laeherys grabs her skirts once again and runs after the tall man.
Oh, how she wished to be back in her tower, all safe and sound with Aleia while daydreaming about her family and what would happen once she got out of the tower.
