) chapter 18 . (
LAEHERYS was ordered to stay in bed and rest until the wedding by the Maesters for healing. Her health state worried many and every day there were visitors for her, mostly Lady Alerie and the King.
Though she didn't notice it, even outside the Red Keep there was commotion over her health, under the people of King's Landing. They wondered if their future Queen would be able to bear children for the realm with her state, and also if Lady Margaery shouldn't take her place.
Tommen had been angry when he heard what the common folk thought about his bethroted and had ordered for all to stop speaking about his future wife and her state. But not even the King's command could stop the gossip.
The wedding came quickly and Laeherys was already feeling much better. Yet she was not feeling happy about being a blushing bride. But there was no other way now. After today, the position of her 'husband' will be claimed.
Though she should be happy it was not by her brother. Speaking of him, she received a parchment roll from Lady Tyrell, saying that Viserys had sailed for Westeros with Daenerys, the Dothraki, the Unsullied and dragons.
She was shocked to hear that there were dragons. She had been told that dragons went extinct thousands of years ago. But now there are three: Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion, and under her sister's leadership.
Laeherys caresses the broken seal of her brother, seeing the three dragon heads of the Targaryens. Even though she would become a stag by marriage after today, she should never forget the fire in her blood.
She hides the letters under a board in the floor, a place safe from lingering eyes. It was the same place where she found diaries of Rhaegar a few weeks ago. Every day she found time to read through it, learning about her brother's life. She read about the day he married to Elia, the days when his children were born, and about the sad story of Summerhall.
Not only that, but also about the strong connection he has with their mother Rhaella and the day she herself was born, plus the days after. She was five moons at the time he wrote what she was reading now.
" Laeherys is growing bigger every day. I will miss the days that she lays in my arms, sleeping with her warm body against my chest, my baby sister.
Once again my mind had wondered about the prophecy, the Prince that has been promised. My heart is convincing my mind that I am not the Prince. But then the question lingers: who is it then? Who is the musician behind the Song of Ice and Fire?
Then a new theory began to stir. Maybe my children, Rhaenys and Aegon, are the ones of the prophecy. But then, who is the third head?
Or can it maybe be Viserys? After all, I know my time has come now I did what I did. Taking Lyanna Stark, making her bethroted, Robert of House Baratheon, extremely angry. No one knows we love each other, that our love was destined by the prophecy.
Maybe I interpreted it wrong. Maybe it was Viserys, or maybe the babe in my arms. After all, I heard that in the language the prophecy was spoken and written in, prince does not assume a gender. Or maybe I hope it is this babe rather than my temperamentful brother.
My blessings go out to my little Lae. My beautiful sister, who is trapped inside this monstrous city. May she be protected by every one of the Seven. "
Laeherys tears up a little and wipes them away with one hand. She shouldn't cry, but his words were just so beautiful. He loved her, he loved her so much. He thought she was someone out of a prophecy, apparently called the Song of Ice and Fire.
Before she had time to think about what that could mean, there was a knock on the door. "Lady Laella, the ladies Cersei of House Lannister, Alerie of House Tyrell and Margaery of House Tyrell are here."
"Let them in, please," she sighs, knowing what they were here for. The wedding dress. She would be dressed and then make her way to the Sept of Baelor, where Tommen would become her husband.
The three women walk inside, holding the silver wedding gown in their hands. Laeherys' lips fall open in awe. It was gorgeous. The silver was beautiful and she loves the sparkly bodice and sleeves.
"What do you think, Laella," Lady Alerie asks, holding the dress up. She tears up a bit. "That it is the most beautiful gown I've ever seen," she murmurs. The ladies usher her to a warm tub to wash her body and her hair. After drying her body they put her in the gown.
Then two hairdressers come to curl her black locks and secure a crown on her head. Laeherys look at the crown made of silver flowers on her head in wonder. She doesn't remember that there would be a crown by this dress.
"Where did this come from," she asks. Alerie grabs her hands in hers. "It is my gift to my new Queen. It will look beautiful on you, Lae." "Thank you, my lady." The hairdressers pin a long, thin veil into her hair, which will trail behind her when she walks down the Sept.
"I have a gift to my daughter by law as well," Lady Cersei says, holding something between her hands so she couldn't see it. The Queen-Mother walks forward so she could stand before her son's bride. Then she binds a necklace around her neck. Laeherys grabs the pendant and looks at it. It was a necklace like the Queen's: golden with a stag on it.
"This will be yours," the woman says, hanging it around her neck. Then she hisses into the girl's ear. "If you hurt or disobey my son, I will make sure you meet your end painfully. Understood, Lady Laella?"
"Understood," she replies in whisper.
