Sorry I've been kinda uninspired lately
So if you have any requests that would be top notch
Warning: Hell dreams but like different??
Connor's POV
"You know what?!" He screams, grabbing his keys. "Maybe I was wrong! Maybe we shouldn't have moved in together!"
"What are you saying?" I beg, all the anger disappearing from me as his sentences dig into my skin.
"This was a mistake," he hisses, opening the door. "It was a mistake loving you."
And with an angry slam of the door, Kevin was gone. Our apartment dissolved into red once again.
"Don't leave!" I plead.
"Connor?" Kevin mumbles, groggily opening his eyes and rolling over to face me. "What's wrong?"
I shut my eyes and concentrate on my breathing. In, out. In, out.
"You had another hell dream, huh?" He asks, pushing his head up to look over at me.
I nod and open my eyes, tears soaking out.
Kevin bites his lip and wraps me in his muscular arms, pulling me against him as I sob into his chest. He murmurs sweet nothings into my ear as he strokes my hair, slowly calming me until I can pull back and wipe the tears from my eyes.
"What was it about?" Kevin asks, loosening his grip as I look around the small room..
"We lived together," I mumble, looking down as he continues to stroke my hair soothingly. "And we had a fight. And... and you left. And before you left you said it was a mistake loving me."
Kevin's eyes widen and he plants a small kiss to my forehead as my eyes fill with tears threatening to spill over. "I am so sorry."
"I guess... it's 'cause we're leaving today," I whisper.
"Yeah," he says, clearly trying to put a positive spin on the topic. "And today we get to go back to the United States, and have clean water... and no fear of malaria... or AIDS..."
I giggle as he continues, burrowing my face into his bare chest. "Or parasites burying their eggs in you... or getting shot in the head..."
"I get it, Kev," I say, leaning up and pecking his nose. "Thank you. You should probably get dressed, the bus will be here in fifteen minutes."
"Is this not good?" Kevin asks, getting out of bed and striking a pose in nothing but shorts.
"P-perfect," I say, going a bit red. Kevin laughs at how flustered I still am at the sight of him, and leans over to kiss me gently before going over to the closet. It was only two months ago we convinced the other elders to swap rooms so Kevin and I could room together, but every second was worth it.
I pull on black slacks and a white shirt as Kevin does the same, buttoning mine as quick as I can and still not able to do it faster than him. He pulls me over to him and carefully ties my tie, straightening it before planting a small kiss on my forehead. I blush and tie his tie, jumping up to kiss his forehead as well. We pull out our already packed suitcases, his grey and mine pink, before exiting the room. Already elders crowd the hallway and I stumble down the stairs before Elder Church steadies me at the bottom.
"Okay everyone!" I say, trying to take control of the situation. I am the district leader after all. "The bus is outside, so everyone grab a partner!" Kevin winks at me from behind Elder Cunningham and I blush slightly. "It does not need to be your mission companion."
"No making out on the bus ride, McKinley!" Elder Michaels calls out. I go beet red, and Kevin turns to face him threateningly. Elder Church subtly shifts towards his roommate Elder Poptarts.
I lead the pack of Elders out to the bus, and step back so I'm next to Kevin. He laces his fingers easily through mine before helping me onto the bus, seeing as I'm too busy staring at our interlocked hands. Even after months of dating, seeing this perfect specimen treating me like his own makes me happier than I ever could imagine.
I sit down in a window seat near the front, Kevin sitting next to me on the aisle. He shifts his backpack underneath the seat in front of us, and looks over at me.
"Enjoying the view?" I crack, trying to say something Kevin-ish.
"Very much so, yes," he replies, leaning over to nuzzle my neck. I giggle and play with the hair on the nape of his neck, kissing his temple.
Kevin rests his head on my shoulder, sighing. "Mind if I get some sleep here?"
"Of course not!" I say, and rest my head on top of his. Within seconds I hear his breathing even out and his heart steady. I smile softly and close my eyes, sinking back into the dream realm.
"Hey, baby," I say, standing behind his chair and draping my arms around his neck. "How was work?"
"The usual," Kevin scoffs, taking another lengthy sip of the mystery liquid in his cup. "Awful."
"I'm sorry," I mumble, leaning down to nestle my head into his shoulder. "Can I make it up to you in any way?"
"You never could," he spits.
"Excuse me?" I ask, recoiling.
"You never could fix anything, could you?" He stands and faces me, his beautiful face plastered with an ugly snarl. "You never could do anything right for anyone." He takes a step towards me and I back away desperately, trying to escape this stranger. Kevin grabs my wrist as he moves closer, though not in the normally gently and loving way that has become commonplace between us. "Especially. With. Us."
"Kevin, what are you talking about?" I stutter out.
"You're the reason our relationship is falling apart," he hisses, getting closer and closer to my face. My eyes widen with fear as his squint with rage. "You're the reason we're doomed."
"I-I don't know what you're-"
"You do-" He seethes. "And you know that you're the pathetic one here. The one that I could never love."
"Connor. Connor!"
I snap my eyes open to Kevin's face, his desperately worried face. "Connor!"
"I'm up!" I say frantically, up until now unaware of the tears pouring down my face.
"You had another hell dream, didn't you?" Kevin asks, wiping my still dripping tears from my cheek with the pad of his thumb.
I nod, trembling.
"They're getting more frequent," he notes, "and worse."
I nod again. It was true, after all.
"Is it because of heading back to the United States?"
"I t-think so," I stutter out. "I came out to my parents right before my mission, and... and they weren't happy. I was free in Uganda, but coming back to the States means being near them again and-"
"And I'll be there this time," Kevin says calmly, resting his forehead against mine. "To help you and to hold you."
"P-promise?"
"We'll make it our home," he says. "Promise."
And with that, the worries of my hell dream dissolved. I had a promise from the man I loved, and that was always going to be enough for me.
