You accidentally find the ring before she proposes

Walking into your bedroom with your granola bar in your hands you noticed Demi had left her dirty clothes on the floor. You sighed as you looked around and decided to put them in the hamper. You couldn't really complain, she normally was very clean and you two agreed when you first moved in together to always do your best to clean up after yourselves and do your fair share of keeping the house clean. You bent down and picked up her sweatshirt, about to pick up her jeans when you felt something in the pocket.

You pulled out the small black box from her pocket and opened it to find an engagement ring. There was no mistaking it, it was most definitely an engagement ring. Just then you heard the front door close downstairs, Demi's voice echoing your name through the house as she walked upstairs. You weren't sure what to do... what were you supposed to do? You didn't know, so you just tried to play it off by throwing the clothes back down on the floor except you forgot to put the box back in the pants pocket. You hid it behind your back just as she came into your sight, a smile on her face that quickly turned to a confused laugh. "Whatcha got there babe?" "Me? Wha- nothing. Um just my granola bar." You looked back at your nightstand table and saw that your granola bar was there, your lie crumbling instantly. "Y/N what did you do? Did you get another puppy?" You laughed and shook your head no before frowning, the guilt washing through you. "No Demi. I'm sorry, I just wanted to help you so I was just gonna throw your clothes in the hamper for you!" "You found it, didn't you?" You nodded your head as she sighed, walking over towards you before grabbing your hand which still held the small black box and leading you over to the bed. She sat down in front of you on the floor and grabbed the box from your hand. "Well I guess you already know what's in here, so I'm not gonna beat around the bush. Instead of the long and romantic speech, I'll just jump to the point where I tell you how in love I am with you, how I can't live without you, and ask you if you'll make me the happiest woman in the world by marrying me?" She opened the box and although you'd already saw the ring, you couldn't help but gasp, a couple tears rolling down your cheeks. "Of course I will!" She smiled and kissed you, sliding the ring onto your finger. It fit perfectly.

She kissed your hand a few times, her lips right on your finger trailing down to where the ring was. You both giggled as she kissed your lips once more, both of you kissing each other with pure love and happiness- your first kiss together as an engaged couple.
