A/N: I don't know what this is exactly but I made myself emotional while writing this. I want a Demi. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Your whole life you've struggled with people walking in and out. You'd pour out your heart and soul to them, trust them and vent to them about the things you went through only to have them walk away without any explanation as to why. This went for friendships and relationships and you ended up losing hope that there was really a such thing as a 'soulmate', eventually giving up on the idea of love altogether. Until you met Demi, that is.

You had just moved out to Los Angeles and gotten your first job at a Starbucks. You were working and taking orders only to lock eyes with her as she walked up to order her usual while stumbling over her words and losing her breath. She waited patiently for your shift to be over as she ordered coffee after coffee and snack after snack, wanting to do anything she could to strike up a conversation with you. Once your shift ended she practically ran up to the door you were about to walk out of, a smile on her face as your fingers brushed against hers. "Do you wanna get some dinner or something?" You would normally decline considering how hard it was for you to trust people but something felt.. different. Like this was something bigger than just dinner, something inside of you telling you that this girl was head over heels for you and as time went by, you caught yourself feeling the same way.

A week went by before you two were actually able to get together again due to your busy schedules. You got ice cream together and took a walk on the beach, both of you wanting to make a move but too nervous to do so. It was on your third date that things changed for her, she was feeling more comfortable and less afraid, reaching for your hand as you two watched a movie in a crowded theatre, letting her fingers interlock with yours and a smile being exchanged between you both. You saw her almost every day, taking every chance you could to see her... but something was still holding you back. This is how things went for you- you would fall headfirst only to get your number blocked for no reason or for them to give you the "it's not you, it's me" speech when in reality you never believed that.

Demi wasn't quite sure why you'd pull away from her every time she tried to kiss your lips. She felt like it was her fault, like she was doing something wrong or moving too fast and that you were uncomfortable. You had officially been dating for 3 months when you finally gave in to her offer of watching a film at her house, just the two of you. It was a beautiful place full of sunshine and expensive furniture, it smelled like her- like she sprayed her perfume all around the house every morning. It was sweet. When you walked around more you noticed that it was a place filled with love, pictures of her family and friends in picture frames some even with notes of memories and love at the bottom of the frame. You felt like your heart could burst.. she was different. But your heart said otherwise, the scars from previous relationships still there.

The movie ended after a while and you both sat up on her couch only to feel one of her soft hands on your cheek. You closed your eyes and smiled, it felt like being touched by an angel. Her skin was soft and smelled like peaches, her fingertips dancing across your cheek and your chin, your eyes opening to find her face only a few inches from yours. Your mind and heart were pulling you in two different directions, your mind telling you this was different, that her intentions were good but your heart that was full of scars and bruises tried telling you differently. You fought against it and for the first time let your lips collide with hers and you melted. You were like putty in her soft hands. This was different from a typical first kiss. There was something that you felt with her that you never felt with your previous relationships, you could've swore you heard fireworks in the background as your lips continued to brush against hers. The kiss was deepened and that was when you pulled away muttering a 'sorry' only to receive a giggle in return. You turned your face towards her to see a big smile on her cheeks making your heart pound against your ribcage. "What are you sorry for?" You were taken aback. No one had ever asked you why you were sorry for pulling away from something that made you uncomfortable.. you weren't sure how to respond because you weren't sure why you were sorry exactly. "I don't know." She grabbed your hand in hers and rubbed her thumb over your knuckles. "Hey. Y/N you never have to be sorry for not wanting to go further than what you're comfortable with. Why would you apologize for that?" And you weren't sure why but right there and then you poured your heart out to her, the entire time her hands were in yours and she never let go. She never stopped listening. She let you talk and cry a little too. She hesitantly pulled you into her embrace to hold you as she rubbed your back as you softly cried into her hoodie. Things felt different, but in a good way.

When you pulled away from her she kissed you and thanked you for letting her know why you were so hesitant. "I'll be there to catch you when you fall. You wanna know why? Because I'm falling too and that's scary as hell but it's you and something about that is comforting and magical." And all you could do was nod your head and smile to let her know that that was exactly how you felt too. Your relationship never moved too fast, every time a new milestone happened she'd ask you if you were okay with how things were going, and you began to bloom like a beautiful flower right in front of her eyes. Some days you felt like the rain, other days you felt like the flower, either way she was always there and that made you feel better. Before you knew it you two had celebrated one magical year together. Shortly after she proposed in Paris, the city of love where you shared your thoughts about the future together. Before you knew it you were married talking about starting a family, and all you could do was thank god for giving you all those relationships and friendships in the past that never worked out because you two finally got it all right. Your heart was now hers and hers, yours. There was a such thing as soulmates, because yours was right in front of you forever.
