It was the hardest phone call she ever got. A phone call from your dad saying that your mom had passed away. She had been sick for a while but you all tried to keep a positive outlook, making the loss even more painful. You were asleep when your phone rang and Demi answered it when she saw it was your dad, her heart dropping when she heard the words. She didn't know how to tell you. She didn't want to but she had to. Nothing could've ever prepared her for this.

She stood in the doorway and wiped a tear from her eye, staring at you and how peaceful you looked as you slept. She took some deep breaths and slowly walked over to you, sitting down on the edge of the bed next to you. "Princess, you need to wake up, honey. We need to talk about something." She rubbed your back and slowly pulled you out of sleep. She had to bite her lip to hold back the tears that were building up in her eyes. "Demi?" She nodded and gave you a watery smile and soft kiss on your forehead. "What's wrong? Why are you crying Demi?" She felt your thumb on her cheek as you wiped away her tears and she caught your wrist in her hands, trailing her fingers down to grip your hand lightly. "I'm so sorry baby girl." "About what?" You chuckled nervously, thinking at first she accidentally broke something. "It's your mom." Those three words made your heart sink in your chest as you shook your head furiously, already putting the pieces together even though you tried to deny it. "No-" "I'm so sorry princess. She passed away this morning. Your dad called your phone and I answered it. I'm sorry baby girl, I'm so so sorry." You sobbed and collapsed onto Demi, your face on her shoulder as your tears soaked her shirt. "Let it out baby, just let it all out. I'm here y/n. I'm right here."

You continued to sob for a while. For what felt like hours and Demi was so unsure of what to do except to hold you close and comfort you by whispering softly in your ear and kissing your skin. "It fucking hurts." Demi nodded her head and let a tear fall from her eye and into your hair, giving up on keeping it together because you didn't need her to be strong for you, you just needed her to be there with you. "I miss her so much Demi." You sobbed, and you both cried together. "I know you do baby." She didn't say that it would get better or that she was in a better place because that wasn't what you needed right now. Right now you only needed Demi to hold you and listen to you. "Don't let me go." You whispered as Demi laid back on the bed and pulled you on top of her, her hands rubbing your back. "I won't princess, I'll never let you go. I'm right here, right here with you."

You ended up crying yourself back to sleep but Demi never moved an inch, keeping herself in the same position as she held you close and kissed every inch of your skin that she could. She knew this would take time to get through but she didn't mind, she just wanted you to know that she loved you and was there with you, even if it took months for it to get even a little easier for you. She'd be there every step of the way.
