You hadn't even noticed before that it was raining cats and dogs, only when you stepped outside did you notice. You weren't sure where you were heading to. Your mind was fogged and you couldn't think straight due to panicking so much, so you just kept running until you stumbled upon a familiar spot. It was a spot where you and Demi would come to a lot. It wasn't far from your home so you two would walk there on the warm summer nights, hand in hand. Before the fighting and before you drifted apart.
You sat down on the bench, your clothes now soaked from the rain as the wind blew making it rain even harder. You looked around, your mind replaying the memories you shared there with Demi. You regretted leaving already, wishing you could just go back home and be with Demi again.
Your parents never had the greatest relationship so when the fighting and long nights apart began, you panicked. You started thinking that maybe your relationship with Demi was gonna be like your parents' and that scared you.
You were pulled out of your thoughts when you felt a warm sweater being placed over your shoulders followed by a voice you could recognize anywhere. "Fuck it's freezing out here y/n. What were you thinking?" Demi. She sat down on the bench next to you, both of you sitting in silence as the rain poured down around you. "I'm sorry. I know that I've been a bad girlfriend lately. I've been picking fights with you and that's not right. I'm really sorry y/n." You sat in silence, your tears mixing with the rain. "y/n, listen to me. I know I haven't been around much lately and I'm so sorry about that, but there has to be something I can do to fix this. To fix us. I know your parents never had a great relationship, but we aren't your parents y/n. Your parents never wanted to work it out, right? I do. Princess you're all I want. I know sometimes I have a funny way of showing it but god, I just don't know what I'd without you. Please just let me fix this. We're not broken baby, we're just a little bent at the moment, but I'll fix it."
You sniffled and looked at her with bloodshot eyes, no longer being able to resist the urge to crawl right into her arms. So you did. You let yourself lose your fears and you just let yourself be more open with Demi than ever before. "I'm sorry Demi. I don't wanna leave, I just... I don't know what to do. I'm really scared that I'm gonna lose you one day. There are girls and guys all around the world who take one look at you and just want you. I'm afraid that you'll find better and that I'll lose you, that you'll leave. I just find it less painful to leave first than to be left." You cried into her hoodie and even though the rain was still pouring, Demi knew you were crying and her instincts to hold you, comfort you, and keep you safe kicked in instantly. "Don't apologize baby girl. I know you're scared. Love can be scary sometimes. But you know me better than that baby, you know I'd never leave you. I'm never gonna find anyone better than you y/n, because there is no one better than you for me, okay?" You nodded your head and rested your ear over her heart, the rhythm of her heartbeat making and the feeling of her arms wrapped around you making you feel so safe. "I love you so much princess. I'm gonna make sure we get back to us. I'm never giving up on you." She continued to hold you for about ten more minutes, the both of you crying together before you started to shiver.
Demi stood up and grabbed your hand, not even asking you if you were ready to go home because she could tell you were. It was a long walk home, the normal fifteen minutes making it feel like forever because it was so rainy and all you could focus on was the woman that was only focused on keeping you safe and warm. But once you got home Demi rushed upstairs, grabbing you a towel and a blanket. She helped you out of your clothes before she watched you walk upstairs. She grabbed your bags and carried them upstairs, setting them on the bed and taking everything out and putting it back where it belongs. She noticed that you were in a pair of her sweatpants and her hoodie, but she didn't care. You're here with her right now, giving her a chance to fix things with you. You crawled into bed and laid under the covers, still shivering a little.
Demi changed into a dry shirt before climbing into bed next to you, pulling you into her arms and smiling when you didn't resist. "I love you so much princess. I'll never stop loving you." She could tell you were smiling even though the room was pitch black. She could feel it against her skin and it made her smile too. She kissed your forehead and breathed in the scent of your shampoo. "I love you too Demi." The words might seem simple to most, but to her they were everything. Her heart beat for you and only you, and it always would. You weren't broken, you were gonna be just fine. She'd do whatever it took to get back to normal with her favorite girl and she knew you'd do the same.
