Beofre you read this, just keep the song on the side in mind, all of the songs in these chapters actually mean something to the story, thanks :)

Things between us have become awkward, a small smile appeared on my face, I turned to face him, gently placing my palms on his warm cheeks, looking him straight in the eye.

“Brody Eli Moore…of course I’ll marry you” I confessed, he let out a sigh of relief, he laughed, propping his palm under his head.

“So I can give you this then?” He reached over me and grabbed that little signature black box, I nodded as he slipped the cold metal ring on my finger, I looked at it in complete amazement.

“Brody, this is amazing, just amazing” I whispered, we both smiled leaning in towards each other only to be kissed by his soft, sweet lips, at this very moment in time, everything went black, it was just me, Brody, and the baby, in this sea of blackness, we were a family now nothing could mess this up, I had a good, strong feeling.

The next day I woke up with a huge smile on my face, I was still getting used to the ring since it was bigger then the one Aaron had given me, and a little smaller and didn’t quite fit around my finger since it’s been a while since I have had one but I knew I would just have to deal with it, I looked over to see a empty spot, the bed made, pillow fluffed, I crawled out of my spot and carelessly threw the black quilt over the spot I once laid, Courtney’s crib was empty too.

I walked down the hall and into the kitchen to find Brody sitting at the table feeding David, Courtney sat in his lap munching away at some cereal, he looked like he was deep in conversation with Sadie, no one noticed me until Courtney looked up and was so quick to throw her arms out to me she dropped the cereal causing it to fly everywhere, I was too tired to even think about cleaning it up, Sadie looked up, her intentions being to clean up the mess but I caught her attention.

“Amber!” she ran over and threw her arms around me, pushing me back she had flashed her new braces at me, something I still have not gotten used to yet.

“Congratulations!” she hugged me again “Can I see it” I started to wake up more from all the commotion and I smiled brightly as I flashed my hand and she squealed staring at it almost the same way I had the night before, she turned around facing Brody.

“I mean, will you marry me?” she asked jokingly, he smiled slightly, something was bothering him, I could tell.

“Well, I’m going to take the kids like planned, and I’ll meet you guys later” she said strapping David into the stroller, Courtney glued to her hip, she left the apartment and for a moment it was quiet.

“Amber, I need to talk to you about something pretty important” Brody said, voice full of urgency, I took a seat across from him.

“What’s up?” I asked curiously, he looked down at his hands.

“Don’t hate me, this is something I have always wanted to do” I was getting a little worried.

“Brody, what’s up?” he took in a deep breath and let out a quick sharp breath, we sat there in silence for a few moments.

“I’m joining the military” my mouth dropped slightly, I looked up from the counter, the world had completely froze, I felt like a knife had just shot through my back and sent shivers up and down my spine like the knife had broke my spine in half.

“You-you want to what?” I asked jumping from my seat, the room was spinning, I couldn’t keep my head straight, Brody quickly jumped up and caught me before I could fall, I was so light headed.

“I’m joining the military, it‘s official, the paperwork has been signed, I am all set up” he repeated once he got me to stand up straight, I looked at him with anger, I didn’t know what else to do so I reached up and slapped him across the face, I just looked at him, no emotion, I could feel the tense in my shoulders, groaning I stormed off only to be followed by the one person who made me this way.

“Amber, I’m sorry” he said simply.

“Leave me alone” I stood at the counter in the bathroom.

“Amber, I don’t know what to say, I have wanted to go into the military since I was four” he confessed, I wiped my eyes and looked up.

“Well why didn’t you tell me when you met me, or when I told you I wanted to be a hairdresser, that was your fucking ticket to tell me, just tell me!” I demanded.

“This has been something I have wanted since I was a kid” he stuttered.

“No! this has been something you have wanted for 5 minutes” he sighed softly.

“Well this is what it has become!” he snapped back at me.

“Did you even think of us?” I demanded

“Us? Why does everything have to be about you?!” he yelled, I stopped.

“Not me you jack ass, Courtney! Your daughter, remember?” I asked.

“She’s not my daughter” I stopped, he stopped.

“Not your daughter? So what is this, your plan I man, what is your plan with this? You propose to me so that you can ‘claim’ me? So that when your gone I won’t be unfaithful to you?”

“No, I didn’t mean it Amber…I” I wouldn’t let him finish.

“you know what I think? I think this was a mistake” I quickly bolted for the door, grabbed my bag and ran, leaving Brody to stew in his own shame, I didn’t see him next until that same night.

Yes it was short, and rushed, it's like 3:00 am and I am still sick but here's what i got, please let me know what you think :)

Stay amazing!!
