I can’t believe I was doing this my heart was beating faster and faster, how could I Amber-Rose Louise Evans had just left her own wedding, went to a hospital, was told I had lost my baby, and now going BACK to the church in hopes we can sneak in unseen, get the car seat, and get to Brody’s car, and bolt out of Massachusetts before anyone could see us.
“I want to go home first” I admitted standing outside the hospital trying to flag down a cab.
“Amber, we can’t, there’s no time, it’ll take us over an hour with all this traffic” Brody said, I sighed, it was true.
“But I don’t want to be seen, I am like a giant frosted cupcake, someone’s bound to notice me, and they already know that I am gone so they are obviously looking for me, your mom knows your gone, your mom knows about us” That was also true, Brody and his mom had, had a long conversation about me, the night I went over to visit.
“well then…” he stopped to think, we had managed to flag down a cab, he told me his plan after we got inside.
“Ok here’s the plan, when we get here, you stay in he cab, ill jump out and get my car, come back and get you, then we go get the car seat from the limo and we’ll be gone in about 2 minutes” I was skeptical I must admit but it was a fairly good plan, considering it was our only hope, I just nodded in agreement.
“We can do this Amber” he reassured.
“No Brody I can’t, I just can’t, I really don’t feel like getting caught, everyone has to know I’m gone, they have to be looking for me, I really don’t want to” Brody held my hand tight, looking me in the eye.
“There is no other way, we have no choice, I promise you that nothing is going to happen, even if anything does I got you…I am NOT leaving you Amber” I thought about it for a while, he had always kept his promises, I was just grateful enough that he was able to come to the wedding without being recognized and take me out as soon as I had asked almost without a question, I nodded.
“Ok, ok fine I’ll do it, but only because I trust you that much” I rolled my eyes, a cheesy smile appeared on his perfect face, he tugged on my hand and pulled me into a hug, I wrapped my arms around him trying to hold back my tears.
“You really trust me?” he asked, making sure I was ready to do this.
“Yea, I’m sure” I answered taking a deep breath in, we arrived at the church and Brody quickly hopped out, I stayed in the cab with Courtney who had fallen asleep in my arms, Brody ran to his car, I was watching every single move he made, he got in and started it up, and quickly drove to where we were sitting, now for the hard part.
“You can do this Amber” I thought to myself, I gabbed Courtney and bolted out of the cab, Brody had already paid before he had gotten out himself, I hopped in the backseat as Brody instantly drove us back to the limo.
“I’m going to get the seat, you stay here” I nodded, he jumped out and moved as fast as he could, I was sweating now, thoughts jolted around in my mind, there was one thought that did cross my mind “Why hasn’t anyone noticed that I’m gone?” that thought ran around my mind, I have been gone for at least an hour, how come no one has noticed? Maybe they just didn’t care, Brody came rushing back with the seat, we moved quickly, it all felt like a dream, I just couldn’t believe this was happening it’s just so not like me.
Like a gush of wind we were gone, driving away from this fucked up life I was about to be a prisoner in, we were gone, on our way to New York where I will never have to come back here again, well at least not for another year or so. I was finally free, free to fly. To soar.
