Present Mic stood at the podium reading out questions from the English literature book they had started on in the past term. Katsuki didn't exactly know why they had to learn this kind of thing if they were primarily Japanese. Why did they need to learn about a fictional set of events based on real problems in America in the '20s? He raised his hand, interrupting the loud hero.
"Do you have the answer Bakugou?" he asked excitedly. He spoke in English but Katsuki was sure he sounded really stupid to any English person if he were to speak to one. He even said his name horribly.
"I have a question instead," he said in Japanese, he stood up from his seat, "why do we have to read this? It's not like these events directly affect us, for example, why do we need to know that they weren't allowed to drink at all, it doesn't affect Japan," he asked.
"Well, this book is set during the period of the Great Depression, something that affected the whole world, not just America. And this book is on the curriculum for all third years," he said. Katsuki sat back down and sighed. So dumb. "Midoryia? Do you have something to add?" Present Mic called.
"No, I'd just like to answer your earlier question," he said in English.
"Alright, what is the name of the cousin of our narrator?"
"Daisy," Deku said.
"Correct! And with that, we move onto the next chapter!" he called out again. Fuck this man is loud, Katsuki thought. He opened his book in front of him and read along with the teacher. He called on a few students to read and he eventually called on Ochaco. Katsuki stopped looking at his book and turned his head to look at the brunette. She stood, the book in her hands. She looked nervous.
"But he knew that he was in Daisy's house by a colossal accident. However glorious might be his future as Jay Gatsby, he was at present a penniless young man without a past, and at any moment the invisible cloak of his uniform might slip from his shoulders. So he made the most of his time. He took what he could get, ravenously and unscrupulously — eventually, he took Daisy one still October night, took her because he had no real right to touch her hand." She read, the last sentence made her pink cheeks flush more, he wasn't aware of his smile until his cheeks hurt. She read another paragraph and he listened intently. She paused looking up at Present Mic when he cleared his throat.
"May I read one more paragraph?" she asked politely. Katsuki looked to their teacher who gestured that she could, and his head whipped back to look at the girl. "When they met again, two days later, it was Gatsby who was breathless, who was, somehow, betrayed. Her porch was bright with the bought luxury of star-shine; the wicker of the settee squeaked fashionably as she turned toward him and he kissed her curious and lovely mouth. She had caught a cold, and it made her voice huskier and more charming than ever, and Gatsby was overwhelmingly aware of the youth and mystery that wealth imprisons and preserves, of the freshness of many clothes, and of Daisy, gleaming like silver, safe and proud above the hot struggles of the poor." During her reading, she faltered a little but she carried on. He watched her sit and she caught him looking at her and he blushed looking away quickly. A few moments later, as someone else read, he felt a pen prick his arm, he looked down and saw writing appear.

"It's romantic, isn't it?" she wrote. They would often do this, comment on the current lesson or just talk when they were too bored to pay attention. Sometimes they would talk before one of them fell asleep. They could text each other sure, but he thought it futile since they had something special that only they shared. No one else had their experience no one else could talk to her like that, except him.

"How so?"

"The whole story, although it is kinda wrong, she shouldn't be cheating on her husband and she is kinda stuck up, but his motivation to win her back, what he does to do that, how much he has to do even if its illegal for her to see him, its all really romantic," She had run out of space and on the other side of her arm and eventually the top of his hand. She wiped it away and started writing again. "Kinda like what you did,"

"Are you as unattainable as Daisy?" he teased.

"I don't know we'll have to see," she wrote and he turned his head to look at her and she stuck her tongue out playfully and he smiled, turning back to his book.
"Alright students! Gatsby died, I'd like you guys to write an essay on one of these three things, the theme, a plot analysis or an essay on what the green light means, please turn them in to the class representative or to me directly next week Friday, that gives you over a week to do it!" he shouted. "And that's it for me today, class dismissed, oh yeah!" he yelled. Katsuki put his book away as the other students made their way to the cafeteria for lunch.
"Katsuki," a voice said next to him. He looked up to see Ochaco standing next to him with a smile. "Do you want to work on the essay together? I may need some help with it," she chuckled awkwardly.
"No problem," he said nonchalantly.
"Great! Hey why don't we have lunch together, all of us?" she grinned.
"Can I say no?" he groaned.
"Nope! You will join Kirishima, Kaminari, Jirou, Mina, Tsyuu and I for lunch!" she beamed. "Hey Momo, are you coming to lunch with us?" she turned her attention to the tall dark haired girl.
"Sure, Todoroki is with Midoriya today, so I can," she smiled back. Katsuki stood up in an attempt to escape but Ochaco grabbed him by the collar to stop him.
