The boys were on their seventh straight hour in the studio. Jack had finished recording his solo parts, and the others were following. The song wasn't fully formed yet, so they still needed to edit the music and change a couple lyrics.
Zach had fallen asleep on the couch, Daniel and Corbyn were going through the harmonies together, and Jonah was playing around with his vocal riffs in the recording booth.
Jack yawned. "Does anyone want coffee? I can go for a Starbucks run."
Jonah practically wrenched his body around to face Jack. "Did someone say coffee?"
Jack grinned. "I'm going on a Starbucks run."
The boys all requested a drink. Jack wrote them down, adding Zach's to the list for him.
Daniel tossed him the car keys. "Take the car. It'll be faster."
Jack nodded, muffling a yawn as he slipped out the door.
~~~~~~
Jack cradled the drink trays in his arms as he slipped into the car.
Thank God, Daniel asked for apple juice instead of a hot drink, otherwise I would have too many drinks to carry!
He put each cup in one of the car's cupholders and left the parking lot.
The radio was playing one of his favorite songs, and he nodded along to it, relaxing into the seat.
He glanced down at Jonah's giant cup of coffee to realize it was spilling slightly over the lid.
Jonah's going to kill me.
He anxiously tried to steady the cup, eyes switching between the dripping cup of coffee and the road in front of him.
The car went over a bump and the coffee spilled onto his hand.
"Jeepers nuts that was hot!" Jack yelped, putting the cup down and blowing on his hand.
When he turned back to look at the road, Jack realized he was about to run a red light. The curly-haired boy slammed his foot down on the brake, narrowly avoiding a car crash.
And then the coffee emptied itself onto Jack's lap.
He frantically tried to wipe it off. The burning hot liquid singed a particularly sensitive part of his anatomy, and he breathed deeply, trying to force himself through the pain.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow, owwwww!" Jack groaned, trying to clean up the mess with the tissues in the glove compartment.
He sighed as the liquid started cooling down, gazing at the mess below him.
The car was ruined. Jonah's coffee was everywhere.
So I also have to buy a new cup of coffee.
Jack sighed in defeat, wiping off his phone case. Thankfully, he'd put his phone on the dashboard, so it hadn't gotten too wet.
He pulled up his text messages.
Daniel Seavey
Jack Avery
Hey so I might have spilt coffee all over the car.
What? How much?
A lot. Like Jonah's entire cup.
You. Spilled. A. Grande. Coffee. In. The. Car?
Yes I'm sorry
I'm not worried about the car as much as the coffee, Jonah's going to kill you if he doesn't get his coffee.
