Faking Sick

Jonah was sitting in bed with his guitar, trying out a couple chord progressions when he heard a whisper.

"Psst. Jonah."

Jonah turned to see Daniel's head poking out of his bedroom. "Hm?"

"Ssh. Come in." Daniel gazed around conspicuously, a smirk on his face.

Jonah smiled, albeit a little confused, putting his guitar down on his bed and quietly walking over to Daniel's room. "Hey, what's--"

"Shhh! I don't want anyone to hear us." Daniel's eyes were alight with mischief. "Sit on the bed." he said in a quiet, but normal voice.

"Uh, why are we being all sneaky?" Jonah said, making sure to keep his voice quiet.

"I have an idea on how you can pay me back. Remember how you promised me, after I covered for you when you got hungover last tour?"

Jonah sighed. "We were supposed to stop mentioning that. But, yeah, I can help you out. What did you want?"

"Well," Daniel shrugged, "you know what's happening next week."

"Ew, don't remind me." Jonah chuckled. "Marketing strategy week."

"Exactly." Daniel pretended to gag. "Marketing week is the worst, right? Who wants to talk about all the boring parts of sales and stuff when you could be writing music, you know, our actual job?"

"So," Jonah shrugged, "what do you want me to do? It's not like I can make us stop marketing our band."

"No, but you can help me get out of those meetings." Daniel smirked excitedly, leaning in. "I'm going to pretend to be sick-- like, super sick, can't get out of bed sick, and you'll help me cover."

"Oh, come on, that's a whole week." Jonah smiled in amusement. "You covered for me for one day."

Daniel frowned, thinking. "I'll be writing songs, so it will still be productive. You just have to help me plan stuff out, and then give me the notes for the meeting. It'll be fun. We can make a whole plan up."

"Ah, you got me there." Jonah relented. "I'm in."

~~~~~~
"First, we have to figure out why you're sick." Jonah frowned. "You usually don't get sick for a whole week."
"What if..." Daniel's eyes lit up. "Okay, we'll pretend to challenge each other to see who can stay in the pool the longest. Then we can pretend to have stayed there overnight, and when I wake up I have a horrible cold. And because you feel guilty since it's kind of your fault, you volunteer to take care of me. So nobody else has to actually witness that much of my horrible acting."
"You're not a horrible actor!" Jonah protested, smiling, "but I get that. Would that last for a week?"
"I don't know, I'd imagine the pool gets pretty cold at night." Daniel shrugged. "We'll play it off really well. You take my temperature and pretend I have a fever, we can make fake vomit or something, it'll work like a charm."
The two conspirators typed all their plans into Daniel's phone. They'd planned it out so they would make the fake vomit the night before they challenged each other to stay in the pool. They would orchestrate the whole pool plot, then the next day would be their marketing meetings.
~~~~~~

They set an alarm for 3 in the morning to make their fake vomit concoction. They'd gone off to the grocery store to buy a few things to put inside, then hid their groceries in Daniel's room.

"I think it should be something we can quickly mix together if we have to." Jonah had suggested. Knowing that, they'd bought some instant oatmeal, some cereal, and a bag of frozen vegetables.
