"Where are you taking them?" I ask as I am leaded by The Maker through a corridor.
"It's ok,I don't have any intentions to hurt them yet." he replied cooly, not making any eye contact with me.
"It seems you already have Maker." I reply as calmly as possible. Trying to be like how dad always is. Intimadating, precise, and smart.
"Come on Devlan! It's been forever! Just call me like you always did!"
"Ridge...."
"That's more like it." He replies cheerfully.
I enter a room that is more darker than the previous. In the center, there is a big chair and monitore all around it. The bridge, I think to myself. I suck a breath in as I see the three on their knees in front of the chair, which Ridge seated in.
"Look Devlan, your father, the superior, is ON HIS KNEES!"
I slightly turn my head to the side and contain the emotions trying to break out of its cage. Anger, sadness, guilt. Rocking my mind back and forth as they claw at the bars confining them.
"Maker, I would like to know what kind of connection you have towards Devlan." Jim lifts his head up and says, each word bolder than the last.
"Alright captain, let me tell you something then. You see, Devlan here came back to me, and betraying you. She did nothing wrong, IT'S ALL ME! She just kept a promise made a long time ago. So LOYAL, ISN'T SHE!"
Dad's eyes widen at his exclaimation, and looks towards me with confused eyes for answers. I try to ignre his gaze, but it's like as if his ice blue and green eyes pierce through me and inside. I try to shoo it away and speak up,
"Just......let them go. They only have days left to live. Warp them back to their waiting ship, their crew is surely getting worried..."
Ridge looks at me with calm eyes. So different to the crazy eyes he uses on others.
"All right, like she said. BYE."
He cuts his last word shortly and starts pressing buttons. White lights surround the three, and they start to fade. Jim looks at me with a worried face, Spock a confused face, and my father a furious face. The one person, my own father, the one I wanted to seek help from most, was angry with me. There is no doubt in that, and I couldn't help but let a single tear roll down. At the sight of that, Jim yelled out a final name before disappearing.
"DEVLAN!"
The silver colored tear drops onto the floor. Quickly evaporating into the air. Ridge comes up to me and takes my hand. He slightly pulls at it and starts walking, which I obey with little hesitation.
"Sorry." he says.
"Well, at least you gave them a chance." I reply. I was grateful of him for that, to be true. REALLY grateful.
Jim's POV:
I see the silver tear quietly slip down the pale, but smooth cheek of Devlan's face. The Maker's words, "betraying" stung into my thogughts, but I couldn't help but feel doubt towards it. Devaln seemed so, sad.
"DEVLAN!"
I yell, and try to reach out my hand to her, but soon realised I was in the bridge of the enterprise, with no one in front of me anymore to take my hand. I quickly lower my hand and got to my feet. I look over to Spock, who was hugging Uhura, and look over to Khan. His face is frozen solid and hasn't got up yet.
"Khan, come on get up."
I akwardly grab him by his arm and pull him up. he doesn't resist and wobbles a little when he was once again, on his feet again.
"I heard her tear drop onto the ground before I was fully warped." He blinks slowly. "She has never cried in front of me, Kirk."
I realise that Khan was more shocked that I thought he would be. I let go of his arm and patted his back before returning to my seat. I slumped down on the seat as Spock comes up to me,
"Captain, what should we do now?"
he asks,
"Well, Mr.Spock, we are going to save Devlan and finish our elimination of The Maker."
I look up at Spock and Spock looks back to me straight with questioning eyes.
"Captain, I observed the surrondings that we were held in and to my conclusion, we were in a ship."
I narrow my eyes in disbelief. There was no way that a ship that big would exist!
"Mr. Spock is right captain."
Khan is wearing his usual face now. All mysterious and cool. That son of a bitch.
"Then.... We should call the other ships and reinforce. But will we make it."
This time, Khan answered.
"Devlan indicated to us that we have few more days to live. The other ships will be here no later than 30 minutes, all full packed with weapons and a crew."
"Alright, everyone, you heard what he said. Mr. Checkov, inform Starfleet for maximum backup."
The Russian youngster replied energentically, "Yes Zir!"
I rise from my seat and leave Spock in charge as I approach Khan.
"A problem, captain?" He asks.
"Yes, we need to talk. Privately."
I walk past him and walk into the elevator and punch in the keycode to the captain's room. As I punch in the keycode, I hear Khan as he tries to speak up but tell him to shut up. We wait in silence as the elevator stops at our floor, and I walk oout quickly, with Khan right behind me.
I walk up to the counter and take out a bottle of whiskey.
"Captain, is it really neccesary?" Khan sighs out.
"Well, in a situation that you were put in minutes ago, YES."
I pour in the maximum allowed amount of the liquid and hand it to Khan, who grabs it out of my hand and takes it down in one shot. I raised an eyebrow at his sudden actions an action I didn't predict would happen.
"How are we going to be able to trust her now, captain." Khan asks quietly. His words are stained with worry.
"I don't know. I guess wait for a miracle?"
"Captain, there are no such things as miracles. It's just an over exaggerated adjective. All things happen with a cause and reason."
No shit Sherlock. I think to myself.
"Then we'll have to keep her in the cell and put her on trail after this all ends."
Khan stays still and only looks at his empty glass. Several seconds pass as we remain silent, until an announcement comes up overhead.
"Captain, please report to the bridge immediately. Backup has arrived."
I jump off the counter and gesture Khan to follow me, which he does and we both enter the elevator to the bridge.
