~~~4 years later~~~ (1801.... I'm sorry. Imma just say: grab some tissues. I literally bawled my eyes out as I was writing this)
Warning: a few homophobic words. Only like 2 though.
Philip POV
Aunt Peggy died. She died because of the sickness that she got 4 years ago. She was only 42 years old. That's just sad. The whole family was in shambles.
My mother let my father back in the house, but still refuses to talk to him. My Aunt Angelica moved in to my grandpa's house a few months before Peggy died. Of coarse, my grandpa sadly was gone too which made the family even more sad. Aunt Peggy died in March of this year, and my father stayed by her side every single second for the last few months of her life. My family was broken.
I broke up with George Eacker about a year ago and secretly started dating Theodosia. When her father found a different man for her, we had to break up and she moved to North Carolina. I miss her so much.
When I was walking around in school one day, I felt myself get slammed into the locket and pinned to it. I looked up and saw a kid named Prince.
Prince- Hey fag. I enjoyed reading about your whore of a father in the paper.
Philip- What do you mean?
Prince- You haven't read it yet? Why, your "boyfriend", George Eacker said some very special words for your father and published it in the paper on 4th of July, one of the most important day in your fathers opinion.
Philip- First, he's not my boyfriend-
Prince- Yeah right, you useless fag that will burn in hell.
I ignore what he said and continued, even though I was mentally and emotionally hurt by his words. Not because it was specifically said towards me, but because it felt like he was talking about every gay person. Including my family and their friends.
Philip- Second, what did he say?
He let go of my arms and threw a newspaper towards me. I read it. The whole paragraph embarrassed my dad. Calling him a whore, dishonoring his legacy for everyone, and called him more terrible names and said things that weren't true about our family. I felt my blood boil and face become heated.
Philip- Where's Eacker??
Prince- If you really want to know, he's seeing a show with his new fiance at the theater. At least someone realized how stupid they were and changed their mind on their lovers.
I ignore him, throw the paper back at him and storm out of the school, heading towards the theater. When I got there, I saw that the show there started at 3:30. I took my watch out of my jacket and saw that it was 4:25. The show isn't even halfway over. The usher would never let me in now. Well, I can always sneak in. Sorry, Mother.
I slowly open the door and quietly snuck my way up to the balcony. Eacker is a rich kid, and every show we saw together we would sit on the balcony. There's a very high chance that he's there. And I was correct. I opened the curtain and I saw him and his fiance there. Honestly, I don't care if the show is going on right now. No one talks shit about my family.
Philip- George. George!
He turns around and puts a finger up to his mouth.
George- Shh! I'm tryin' to watch the show!
Philip- Well, you should have watched your mouth before you talked about my father!
George- I didn't say anything that wasn't true. Your father's a scoundrel. It seems like you are too.
