Y/n L/n, you never would've guessed what fate actually had in store for you, especially since you didn't necessarily have any special past or anything. In fact, you joining the Survey Corps was a move that you had made on your own and it was one against everything you've been building yourself up for. You always expected yourself to grow up as a business woman or taking over your parents farm, that kind of life was closer to your ideal one than what you were in now. It was when Wall Maria fell that everything that you had planned for all those years, burned to ashes. You actually weren't the first person in your family to join the military to fight against the Titans, it was actually your brother Terrin that joined first. He went through the training camp and everything. Since the beginning he's wanted to join the Garrison...weird choice huh. The reason he wanted that Regiment in particular was that it wasn't as dangerous or out there as the Scouts, yet it wasn't as protected or inward as the Military Police, he wanted to make a difference after all and not just sit back as everyone else did the dirty work. It just sucked that your brother was assigned to guard Wall Maria and you and your family had been there to visit them. You had all been there at that day and you hated it.

You remembered what you saw that day, how could you not? That memory was burned into your brain so clearly that you were able to remember everything that happened that day, the good and the bad. You had been in the market with your parents, all of you talking about how happy you were to finally see Terrin after all of the years that he had been gone. You actually hadn't seen the male ever since he had left for the training camp three years ago. Yeah, this was his first month on the job and your parents and yourself agreed to meet up with your brother as a surprise...and it was a surprise you had all gotten. You didn't know what humanity did to deserve what it was given, but it still happened and you could bet that no one had what would happen next.

You were actually allowing your eyes to graze over all of the different items, toys, food, and jewelry that had passed you and your family by as you were all on your way to your brother's post which was located somewhere near the gate. Back then the military seemed like a ridiculous job to want. You were just going to all die after all, why speed that process up by throwing yourself in harms way? You didn't know about everyone else, but you took the threat of the Titans quite seriously, something that many of the neighborhood kids took advantage of. They'd try and jump you every so often, telling you that one day the "Titans would get your brother and we'll watch you cry like the little girl you are." or some kind of ridiculous threat like that. You actually weren't that strong of a person, something you have always envied your brother for. Back then he would be the one to help you out of those situations, but now that he was gone you were left defenseless and had to take those bullies head on. Every time you had tried to fight back, all that happened to you was you being sent home with a bandage around your head.

As you walked down the streets of Shinganshina, you let out a sigh of distaste . You never understood why those guys never left you alone. You remembered telling your parents about the ordeal, but they were always too busy to actually do anything about it. Your mother did tell you that maybe the boys were picking on you because one of them liked you, but you shot that idea down without a second thought. Why in the world would someone pick on the person they liked? It made no sense! All you'd actually be doing is push that person away after all.

You kept your head focused on the dirt ground below as you continued to wonder through your thoughts. Staring at the ground as you thought was just a small quirk you had and you felt like you should probably get out of it one of these days. You continued to walk through the streets like this, your hand encased in your mothers, her hand helping guide you to your destination with the movement of her hand. It was when your mother stopped walking that your head was pulled out of your thoughts. Why did she stop? Did she see something in one of the shops that she liked? You quirked an eyebrow in your mother's direction, curious as to what she was looking at. To your surprise, she wasn't looking at one of the shops or anything like that, nope. She was looking up at the sky and boy did she look horrified.
