Chapter 12

 You looked over at the others as you double checked your bag, ensuring that you had everything you may need for the upcoming exploration of your town. Everyone else was finished eating by now, and you had to be honest...you were glad that they were. That and that you were scheduled to go out into the town. It wasn't only because of the fact that you were able to see everything that has and hasn't changed in the past few years, but you had a reason to get out of all of the chores that your family would usually dump on you after dinner. It was a pretty pathetic reason for being happy about leaving the house, but it was a reason and quite a valid reason if you were to say so yourself. Yeah, Levi usually crammed different cleaning assignments on you, Eren, and the others, but still...

"Are you all ready yet?" Levi asked looking over at everyone expectedly. Yeah, he asked the question, but you all knew the answer that he was expecting. If you weren't prepared by the time he asked the question he'd most likely start interrogating you about what you've been doing in the time given and tell you that you need to "hurry the hell up".

"We're ready sir." Eren stated as he walked out of one of the nearby rooms, nodding in the sorter male's direction. On the brunette's back was a backpack, his had casually slipped into his right pants pocket.

Only a few more minutes had passed before everyone was gathered in the living room, Jean's group was in plain grey cloaks while everyone else was in their civilian outfits. "Good, everyone's here." Levi nodded, "You all know what you have to do correct? Keep a low profile. We don't need everyone in the town knowing we're here."

Jean and his group nodded their heads, showing that they understood what the male wanted from all of this wishing you and the rest of the group good luck before beginning to exit the house in a mannerly fashion. You exchanged a small smile with Sasha before the female too left the house, leaving you with Eren, Armin, and Levi.

"Well then, for us I think that we should be in pairs just in case something happens then there'll be someone to back the other up." He said, looking at those who were still in the room. You had to admit that you did and didn't want to have Levi as a partner for...known reasons. If he did end up being your partner that was fine, but you had to admit...Having Armin or Eren as a partner didn't sound all that bad either.

"Hah, is it cool if Armin and I are partnered up for this?" Eren asked, slinging an arm around the blonde's shoulders. In response to that Armin let out a nervous chuckle but nodded his head anyway showing that he supported the idea. That idea made your head drop. That killed pretty much any chances of you having either of them as a partner. Really there was no reason for Levi to NOT allow them to be each others partner.

"Go ahead you two, just don't go causing a scene or anything like that." Levi said, giving the duo a dismissive nod and signaling them to get moving.

Both of them nodded back at him and saluted, a gleeful look finding itself in the male's eyes as they exited through the door. They had just ditched the possibility of being stuck with Levi for an hour and a half after all...

"What are you waiting for L/n, get moving." Levi said as he too headed for the open door, an unreadable look finding itself in the male's eyes.

You gulped slightly, pulling the strap of your bag in a more stable position before following him outside of the house, closing the door behind you before speeding up your pace to go follow him down the dirt path that would eventually lead you both to the town ahead. You had to admit that the walk there was uncomfortable and silent, something you expected since this was Levi you were talking about and not Jean or anyone else.

"Is there any part of town that you think we should check out first?" Levi asked, glancing over in your direction for a quick moment, low and quiet that you almost missed it.
