**Luca's Pov.**

What..?
Did I hear her correctly?
She wanted to adopt me..?
I stared down at my lap with a frown.
I was overwhelmed.
Why would she want to adopt me?
I was more than fine living at the orphanage until I turned eighteen.
But why..
Was my heart pounding as hard as it was?
Could I really live with another person?
I mean, I've been living with children since I was young.
But this was an actual adult.
Or well a young adult.

"You want to adopt me..?" I found myself asking the other.
The corners of Chrys's lips twitched into a smile.
"I do." She answered.
My brows furrowed as I looked away again.
What was she getting out of adopting me?
Was this a bet..?
No.

She didn't seem like the type to hurt someone like that.
Even if she was a demon.

My eyes fell back on her.
"Why? You could adopt any child in that building, why are you wanting to choose me?" I asked her now.
Chrys blinked.
She looked lost, had she not thought this far?
Did she think I was going to immediately say yes and we'd be some kind of happy family in wonderland?

"Luca, not a lot of teenagers get adopted. Especially when they're half bloods." Her serious tone actually caught me off guard.
She looked more serious as if she was reading my thoughts.
Or searching my heart for the truth.

Chrys looked at me with a frown.
"I want to adopt you, because you're rare and no ones tried to get to know you as a person." She looked down at her own lap.

"I was an orphan as well, but I ran away because I was tired of the rejection. Not only that, but because something was telling me I didn't need to be adopted, that my real parents are out there somewhere actually watching over me. I'm not telling you to say yes in hopes of feeling alive again." She smirked as my eyes fell off of her.
I didn't realize I was staring so much.
But, she was sounding like an actual adult who's been alive far longer than she's  let on.

"I know that feeling, Luca. Feeling so empty in a room, hoping someone will burst through those doors and announcing you were being adopted. To pack your belongings and to get ready to meet your new family. I know that way too well, it was why I ran. I didn't want to be adopted by just anybody. I wanted to feel like they were the ones." Her smile died down for a moment as she looked at me.
"I was fourteen when I ran away from that orphanage, I'm not telling you to run. But I do want you to consider letting me adopt you. I want you to feel wanted, something half bloods never get to feel when their in the orphanage." She said.

I was speechless.
I wasn't expecting her to flood me in with that.
I was blank.
She sounded so true.
So human.

"It may take you a few days to consider something like this, or consider a psycho like me taking you in but. I really feel like, this is the right thing to do." She told me.

Getting to my feet, she walked me to the door.
"Just think about it, don't feel pressured into answering me right away. Take as long as you need, my offer won't change." She said as I nodded walking out.

The door closed behind me, I turned slightly staring at the knob.
I wanted to say yes.

I was wanting to scream yes.
But I did need more time.
It was a lot.
She was only twenty-one.
Barely caring for herself.

How would she be able to care for another person?
Let alone a half blood?

Adjusting my jacket, I walked down the stairs of the apartment.
Would my life change if I lived with a demon?
I know I was half, but that potion was also racing through my mind.
I could become human again.
Those black eyes have haunted me for so long.

Could I really be a human?
Being half demon, kept me out of trouble kind of.
That's excluding school of course.

Frowning softly I waited at the bus stop.
I was a few blocks away from the orphanage, and walking was a rather stupid idea at how late its gotten today.
Werewolves and other dangerous beings were getting ready to hunt.
And my human half was only a target for them.
Should I become full demon?
Chrys mentioned new bloods were hard to handle.

Would I only cause her problems if I became full?

"Your blood smells delicious." A voice cut me off.

I couldn't even react fast enough before I was being slammed into a brick wall.
Wincing through the pain.
Silver eyes were greeting me.
A vampire.
Oh god.
He reminded me of Brodie and it terrified me.
Most of the bullies at school were demons.
But him, Carter and Paige were the only vampire bullies at Tiger Academy.

People simply ran by to avoid getting caught up in whatever mess I just landed myself in.
The vampire was smirking deviously at me.
"Why would a sexy thing like you walk around in the open at a time like this? Are you trying to be a tease?" He purred.
He smelt like alcohol.
Did he just come from a bar?
"I was just h-heading home." I answered the older male.
"Yeah? Why don't you come home with me, I can show you a good time." He whispered harshly against my ear before biting it.

Whimpering I shoved the other back.
"No! I need to get home." I said trying to get away before crying out in pain being slammed into the ground.
The familiar metallic taste filled my mouth.
I bit too hard on my gum.

"You little bitch, you think you're all that just because you are a half? Who the fuck do you think you are?" His attitude changed fast.
"N-No one." I cried.
I just wanted to get home before something like this happened.

"Excuse me sir, but I think you're getting just a tad full of yourself with your low vampire ranking." A new voice said.

I felt this guys knee digging in my back that was starting to really hurt.

"Who the hell are you?" The vampire snapped.
"An enemy to you if you don't let this kid go, its probably past his curfew and you're being a real dick by keeping him out." The voice said.
"Are you telling me, you wouldn't want a piece of this sweet ass if you found him strolling through the neighborhood at the time it is?" The vampire asked.
"No, because I have the decency to actually talk with my flowers. Not terrify them like the way you are with this one." He scolded the other.

"Ah forget this! I'll just go back to the bar." I yelped being ripped off of the concrete.

That same vampire was glaring at me.
"Next time, I won't be as nice. No, next time. Pray you don't run into me, you bitch." He spat storming away.

"Are you okay?" I turned to the hero before feeling my chest tightening at his aura.
A high blood demon.
He stood there with a troubled expression.
He had messy black hair that was swept over to the left and tired crimson eyes.
I found it nearly impossible to swallow.
He was intimidating by just standing there.

I could only manage a nod.
"I am now.. thanks to you." I squeezed out before the aura vanished and I was able to breathe again.
He smiled with a nod.
"That's good, allow me to walk you home. The last thing I want is knowing some other creep is trying to hit you up." He told me.

"How am I certain, you're not a creep?" I found myself asking him.
He smirked widely at this.
"A creep wouldn't introduce himself to you. Sly Thomas, and what is yours doll?" He asked me.
I felt my face heating up.
"Luca Everest." I told him.
He smirked at me.
"You're actually cute, I wouldn't address you as sexy like that nonofficial did. You don't call the beautiful out unless you intend on bringing them home and treasuring their very being." He told me.

"Oh my god." I let out a laugh.
I had to stop walking to try to breathe.
Sly stood there looking at me amused as I looked at him funny.
"You're kind of embarrassing, Mr.Thomas." I told him.

Sly grinned at me.
"My embarrassing words managed to get a laugh out of that cute face of yours, I wouldn't mind hearing more of your laughter. Its kind of addicting." He confessed.
I looked at him blushing.

"A normal guy wouldn't say stuff like that if he knew what my aura was." I said.
"You're half demon and half human, I know full well what you are Mr.Everest." Sly told me as he smirked at my puzzled expression.
"Being a high blood, I can easily tell what you are without any real problems. Another reason on why I'm drawn to you." He said now.

I looked down as we made it to the orphanage.
He stood at the double doors as he smirked down at me.
"Please be careful on your way to school tomorrow, and maybe we'll run into each other again soon? I do hope it is sooner than later." He teased.
I smiled softly.
"Goodnight Mr.Thomas." I told him.
"Goodnight doll." He waved me goodbye before walking down the stairs.
I stood there in slight awe.
I may have a crush.
But that was for another time.

I needed to think about being adopted.
Did she even have the funds for another person?
Could she handle raising a teenager when she just finished being one a few years ago?
I frowned walking into my room.
It was late and I needed sleep.
I wouldn't mind hibernating until summer.
But demons couldn't do that, unfortunately.

I lied down in the bed with a frown.
Tomorrow at work, I'll give her my answer.

I just hope.
Its the correct one.
