**Chrys's Pov.**
I've never stood in a church before.
It was never my thing.
They were sad, just like hospitals.
Why would I go to something that was going to depress the hell out of me?
But even though I was against it.
Here I stood.
Dressed in a black shirt, my hair messily done up and wore my black jeans.
People in the church were sobbing as Deja laid in her sand casket.
Looking as peaceful as ever as she slept.
It looked pretty nice at this point.
No longer would she grow with us.
But now she'd be watching over River.
I ran a hand through my hair standing inside the stuffy room.
I glanced to my friends who held stone faced expressions.
We had no right to cry.
Even though it was screaming to be let out.
To scream in nothing but anger.
"And now, Christine Angel will make a speech." The preacher addressed me as I cleared my throat.
My nerves starting to appear.
I let go of the hands that were held by Stella and Rosie before making my way up the two steps.
I faced the audience and with a soft breath.
I began my speech.
"Let me just start with, I was never especially close to Deja Rainn." My eyes on the script I had written myself, but my hand writing was starting to look a bit drunk.
So now I was fixing to have to wing this.
Hoping to everything, I don't look like an idiot.
I stuffed the paper in my pocket as I sighed.
I looked at everyone.
"Deja was a friend of mine, and a very good one at that. She always made valid points, including telling me that eating six pieces of pizza in one setting. Was not very healthy for a demons diet." I joked earning small smiles.
I smiled softly now, picturing her sitting out there.
Next to her weeping mom who kept blowing her nose.
"Deja was important to us, she was a stubborn vampire who took shit from no one. Including her friends.." My eyes darkened a bit with furrowed brows.
Clearing my throat I adjusted the tie around my neck.
Yes.
I, Christine Nicole Angel Darkleer wear ties.
Get over it.
"One of our friends had been kidnapped last year, and we all doubted her when she tried to defend him. She took us on individually to try to convince us, our friend was the real deal. And what made it worse, was I left for hell and didn't come back until a few days ago." My jaw clenched now.
"Deja was a wonderful friend who knew how to support us, when we couldn't support ourselves." My eyes fell on Styx who frowned deeply at that.
She was the first person who supported him when he came out, before anyone else could.
My chest was burning as her smile flooded my mind.
Her last minutes I spent with her.
Was her smiling at me.
"Deja.." My bottom lip quivered and I was finding it harder to swallow now.
My eyes began to burn.
"Deja was a great person and I'm sorry to those who didn't get the chance to know her, like we did." I smiled softly as I looked to the empty spot next to Sly where Snake was supposed to be.
Instead.
He was at the home he would of shared with Deja, taking care of River.
I stood there in silence for a moment.
People looked to each other confused as I stared hard at the floor.
Everything I knew about Deja was leaving my mind.
It was turning into a blank space.
All I knew, was her smile and her name.
"Chrys?" I heard someone call my name but I ignored it.
My eyes fell onto the casket where Deja was.
She probably thought I was bullshitting my way through this speech.
In truth.
I probably was.
We weren't supposed to lose her.
She wasn't supposed to die.
She was supposed to have River, go home and start a family with Snake.
Even if he wasn't the dad of that kid.
He was still willing to try.
"Deja was going to be a wonderful mom," my eyes fell onto her mom as tears fell down both of our cheeks.
"You are a wonderful woman for giving birth to someone, so kind and supporting. And I am sorry for you loss, I really truly am." I said now as the tears fell more freely.
She mouthed an 'thank you' and I nodded to it.
I looked to everyone.
"Thank you for listening." I said leaving the stage.
Feeling colder than before.
~~~~
"Well that was some depressing ass shit, remind me to never die." Kylis said walking out of the church, earning a few disapproving looks from family and friends.
"I really don't want to think about anyone crying over me, like that." He added, taking Styx's hand who frowned deeply.
"It'll happen eventually Kylis." He told him in a soft voice.
Kylis glanced to the other, squeezing his hand as they walked towards my car.
I stopped walking as I looked to Rosie who crossed her arms.
"Loki didn't show up either." She said.
I frowned at her.
"I didn't see him coming, I mean they were pretty close as well. I think it would of hurt him more, if he had came." I said.
Rosie looked to Willow who stuck close to her.
I smiled softly.
"Drive safe getting home." I told her.
Rosie frowned now.
"Are you going to check on Snake?" She asked.
I looked to my car that had three guys inside.
I looked back to her.
"I may once I get them home, I don't see Styx wanting to visit. Especially now." I said.
She nodded.
"We're going to stop by on our way home, we'll let him know you'll come by later." She said hugging me.
I nodded with a smile.
"Thanks, Rose." I said as she kissed my cheek walking away hand in hand with Willow.
She ran to the passenger door opening it for the other.
They were a very cute couple.
I loved seeing how happy she looked with her.
My attention fell on Stella who leaned against the passenger door, looking at me patiently.
I stuffed my hands into my pockets approaching the other as I smiled softly.
"Ready?" She asked me.
I smiled kissing her with a nod.
"I'm ready, lets go home." I said.
~~~
"You're going to visit him?" Styx asked as everyone removed their coats and shoes at the door.
I nodded with a frown.
"You can always come if you want Sty." I told him.
He made a face, his eyes on Kylis who shrugged.
"You two can go, I'll just raid the snacks and TV while you're away." He told us.
I looked to Styx who frowned deeply.
"I'm pretty sure I'm the last face he wants to see." He said.
I frowned.
"You two are still friends Styx, his mate just died. I don't think he's going to think about anything else right now." I said.
Styx ran a hand through his hair with a sigh.
Stella touched my arm with a smile.
"I'll stay back and start dinner, you two go on." She said.
I grinned at her.
"You're making us sound like parents, babe." I said kissing her forehead.
She grinned.
"I mean it's felt like it with you being gone, for a year." She told me.
Luca looked to us.
"Yeah.. she kinda moved in while you were gone, so did Sly." He said now.
My eyes slightly widened.
"Why the hell are so many people wanting to live with me?" I asked.
Sly smirked leaning his chin on Luca's shoulder.
"Rent free." He said.
"I'll start charging." I locked eyes on the other who smirked deviously at me.
"You are too nice a person to charge rent." He said.
I cocked a brow smirking at him.
"Fifty bucks a week." I told him.
His eyes slightly widened.
Luca sighed patting his mates chest.
"Nice job, babe." He said walking past the other into the living room.
I walked to the door with Styx, looking back to Sly who stood there with a puzzled look.
I grinned.
"I'm kidding, but don't assume I'm the type who won't start charging you, because I can." I said leaving the house with Styx who grinned shutting the door behind him.
~~~~
"This is going to be awkward." Styx cringed walking up the stairs of the apartment Snake stayed at.
I frowned at him.
"We're here to support him Styx, so be nice." I said.
Styx frowned.
"Easier said than done." He said as I knocked on the door.
I blinked when Willow opened the door.
"You guys are still here?" I asked.
She smirked.
"We got here five minutes ago, you were kind of on our ass until you got stopped at the red light." She told me.
My eyes widened as I grinned.
"That was you guys? Shit you left before me and I still caught up?" I laughed stepping inside as my eyes fell on Rosie.
"You slow ass." I laughed at her.
Rosie blushed darkly.
"The roads are wet." She said defending herself as I smirked wickedly.
"It never stopped me."
"And yet you're still alive." She shot then stopped herself immediately.
"Well aren't you two great on conversation starters." Snake said walking into the room with a sleeping River in one arm.
A glass of water in the other.
At least I hope it was water and not vodka.
"Snake I'm sorry, it slipped an-"
"Rosie, don't apologize." Snake cut her off putting the glass down.
His eyes fell on Styx who looked away from the other.
He scoffed sitting down on the chair.
"Its nice you guys showed up, but I really wish you hadn't." His eyes on River with a frown.
I glared at him.
"Are you kidding me? We came because we were worried." I hissed at him.
Snake looked up at me and my blood ran cold.
His eyes were black and his brows were knitted.
"Why would you worry about me? You were gone a year, Cry." He looked down at the sleeping baby.
"I can still worry about you Snake, stop being a ass. Deja died an-"
"And you spoke at her funeral, I know I heard." He sighed getting up then walked to the door.
"I really don't want you guys here right now, I appreciate the concern and stuff. But I really want to be alone with my son." He said, opening the door.
My eyes fell onto the others who all seemed shocked by his actions.
He frowned deeply.
"I am asking you, please do not let me demand it. I am not in the mood." He said.
"Lets go." Styx hissed shoving me and the others out.
His eyes locked on Snake the whole time, who's eyes were already locked on him as well.
~~~~
"Did I say it, or did I say it? That was fucking awkward." Styx hissed in the car heading home.
My hands tightened around the wheel with a frown.
"He's hurting Styx." I told him.
"You don't think I know that? Deja was our friend too, she was my friend before I even met him. She supported me the day I came out gay." He snapped as tears burned his eyes.
"I know Sty-"
"And he wants to be left alone? Is he serious? I know they were mates, but he never fucking cared about me like that. Why is she so special?" He demanded.
Oh my God.
"Styx are you really playing the jealous card right now?" I demanded.
Styx's eyes flickered as he sat there in complete silence.
I glanced to him with a deep frown.
Was he really jealous over what Deja and Snake had?
Wasn't he happy with Kylis?
When we got to the house, I put the car into park before locking the doors.
Styx looked to me as I sat there, staring blankly at the house with a frown.
"I know Snake was your first everything, but you can't live in the past forever Styx an-"
"I'm not living in th-"
"And you can't be jealous of the dead." I glared at him.
He glared back as I frowned.
"Your aura was running wild in that house, you can't be with someone and be jealous that your ex is with someone else." I told him.
"I'm not jealous! I just want to know why she was so damn special." He snapped.
"Maybe it was because she was a girl?" I shot at him.
His brows furrowed as his eyes flickered a dark cloudy gray.
"Sly made a point the other day, Snake could have just been experimenting with you." I told him.
He glared at me.
"For over two years? How do you experiment for two years then throw what we had away?" He demanded.
"What did you two have? All you two offered each other was lust, he fucking abused you mentally and physically Styx. He called you a whore numerous times!" I snapped.
"I know that!" He screamed covering his ears as tears pricked his eyes.
My eyes widened at how fast the front door swung open and Kylis ran to our car.
I'm so glad I unlocked the door because he nearly ripped the door off, to get to the other.
"Why are you yelling at him?!" He growled ripping Styx out of the car.
I sat there shaking as I glared.
"This was a conversation between us, Kylis." I hissed.
"For you? The whole damn neighborhood can fucking hear you, dumb ass." He snarled pulling Styx into the house.
I sat there as my chest tightened to the point I stopped breathing for a moment.
I frowned deeply closing my eyes.
Styx was still a child.
They were all still children.
I looked to the door to see Stella in the doorway.
Her arms crossed with a confused look.
Running a hand through my hair.
I sighed.
This felt way too much like a family.
Me and Stella were the parents, Luca and Styx were our children and Kylis and Sly were the boyfriends.
I rubbed my temples.
I really don't know if the parenting life will be for me.
I stepped out of the car looking to my mate.
"Is everything okay? We could hear you two outside." She said with a worried look.
I walked up to her, pressing my lips to hers.
"Everything is fine, we just had an argument. It'll clear up." I told her.
She looked at me with an unsure look.
"Well make it quick, no one likes negativity at the dinner table." She said kissing my cheek walking into the kitchen to finish cooking.
Isn't that the truth..
~~~~
I walked up the stairs to Styx's and Kylis's room they shared.
I frowned knocking.
"Fuck off Chrys." I heard Kylis snap on the other side.
Glaring I let myself in.
"Don't tell me what to do, in the house I own." I growled.
My eyes on the sobbing Styx as Kylis glared at me, rubbing circles in the others back.
"Get out." I told Kylis.
Styx stopped crying as he glared at me.
Kylis growled getting to his feet as he stormed up to me.
"You already hurt him once, do it again and I'll fucking hurt you." He warned storming out of the bedroom.
Styx turned from me as I sighed.
"You're really acting like we're mother and son, its kind of creepy." I smirked at him.
He glanced to me with a frown.
"Well you're treating me like a kid, Chrys." He frowned.
I shrugged sitting on the bed next to him.
"You're giving me no choice, but to treat you like one." I frowned looking to him.
"You called me out, how am I supposed to act?" He demanded.
"Like a mature young adult maybe? Sty, I was just telling you. You can't be jealous that Snake moved on, you have someone who cares about you way more than he did." I said.
Styx faced me now.
"I told him about it, he got upset but he got over it.." He bit his bottom lip.
I smirked softly at him.
"Kylis acts like a bad ass, but when you're actually hurting like this. He cares a lot, warning me the way he just did? Just shows how much he loves you Styx." I told him.
Styx blushed.
"I know.. that's why I love him." He whispered.
I rolled my eyes.
"You cute little homosexuals and your damned emotions." I sighed bringing him into a deep embrace.
"C-Chrys I can't breathe." He said.
I smirked kissing his forehead.
"Sorry, but its time to eat. Your mom made chicken Alfredo." I teased as he made a face.
"Please don't refer Stella as my mom, ever again." He said.
I groaned.
"Right, sorr-"
"She really makes that bitch look like nothing more than dirt, you and Stella are going to make great parents." He said kissing my cheek now before leaving the room.
I sat there blinking.
Then sighed with a smile.
Maybe I could do this parenting thing.
Maybe.
No promises.
