**8 Months Later.**
**Luca's Pov.**
"Luca get your ass out of bed before you're late for school!" I heard Chrys yell outside of my room.
Groaning I shoved the pillow over my face.
Never in my life had I wanted to hear those words.
Especially from my friend.
I looked to the clock that was screaming six-thirty back at me.
Its been eight months since the accident at the lake, and the last time I saw Sly.
I don't know what was going through his mind when he left, I just know he didn't say a word to me.
Part of me felt guilty, I mean I was angry and hurt.. yet I took it out on him.
The pained expression we both shared trying to understand what the other was feeling..
Running a hand through my messy hair I walked into the bathroom for a quick shower.
A scar rested on my hip after the fall and its just a reminder of what happened.
How angry everyone got.
Over me.
I leaned my head back as the water hit me in the face, my brows knitted as I tried to stop thinking about it.
"Do we have anything for breakfast?" I asked looking in the empty pantry with an annoyed look.Chrys was leaned against the wall checking her phone before looking to me.
"No, you're going to have to eat at school. I'll stop by to get you and we can go get groceries together, does Chinese sound good for dinner tonight?" She asked me so casually like she was an actual mom.
Maybe it was practice for the real thing?
Hell if I know.
"That's fine, I'll see you at three then." I told her.
Chrys looked to me."Do you want a ride? I don't mind taking you Luca." She offered.
I smiled shaking my head.
"Its fine, bye." I said before leaving the apartment.
The walk to school was a lot colder today, maybe because it was the middle of November and I decided to not wear a jacket.
I frowned as the schools name reflected back at me as students rushed into the building.
I was seventeen and a senior now, and was still bullied.
I tried keeping that part away from Chrys and the others.
The last thing I need is her or the others trying to pick fights up there.Even though I've told them countless times not to.
It was pointless.
Brodie and the others would only cause me more problems outside of school.
I walked into the building to only feel the warmth nipping at my skin.
It was nice but I was already ready to go home.
That was still new to me.
Calling the place I shared with Chrys as my home.
"My oh my, look at who forgot to wear a jacket." My blood ran cold at the English accent.
I turned to only be shoved into the locker that was for once mine.
"Did I say you could look at me?" He asked.
"No Carter." I hissed looking for any of his lackeys.
No one.
He was alone?
"Hm? Now you're saying my name, feeling brave aren't we?" He asked me.
"Leave him alone, Carter don't you have anyone else you could bother besides Luca?" Luna demanded pulling the vampire off of me.
Carter smirked, his candy apple green eyes glowing at her.
"Luca is an easy target, well until now. The brat thinks he can talk back to me." He shrugged.
I glared at him as Luna rolled her eyes.
"You're no one special Carter, and honestly bullying him doesn't make you any cuter. Its actually disgusting." She sighed pulling me over to her as Olive stood nearby the principals office.
Carter looked to the other then back to me and Luna.
"What do you gain by protecting him?" He asked her.
Luna looked to Luca with a smile.
"I gain everything by protecting him, believe it or not but he's special to me. I won't let you keep tormenting him just because you're bored, Carter." She spat.
I looked to her confused as she smiled at him.
"I would hate to involve the adults, so I suggest you stop before I make your life a living hell." She warned him.
Carter scoffed.
"You think you could make my life a living hell? Try me." He stepped towards her and I wasn't sure what possessed me but I stepped forward and pushed her behind me.
Carter's eyes widened for a second as did Luna's.
"Back off." I told him with as much irritation I could hold in my tone.
Carter glared at me.
"We're not done here, Everest." He told me before storming off.
I turned to Luna who smiled softly.
"Nice job, kid. Let's head to class before we're considered absent." She winked walking off with Olive who grinned at me.
I stood there for a moment.
Where did that courage even come from?
~~~~~
"Where is your guardian?" Luna asked me at the parking lot.
I shrugged looking for Chrys's car.
She was supposed to be here.
Don't tell me she forgot and stayed over?
Should I just walk to the store and wait?
This is why I've told her to get me a phone.
"You don't have to wait with me, I'm sure Chrys will be here soon." I told Luna who didn't look convinced.
"I could always ask my driver to bring you home?" She offered.
It was tempting but I knew Chrys would only panic to show up here to find me gone.
Smiling at her I shook my head.
"No, its okay. I appreciate it, I think Chrys would have a fit if I went off without her knowing." I told her.
Luna grinned softly.
"Fine, I'll see you in a week Luca." She said waving me goodbye.
That's right, it was Thanksgiving break so we had a week to ourselves.
Even though I was going to be at work most of the time.
"Everest!" I turned to see Snake and Styx coming up to the school.
"There that fucker is." I heard Brodies voice and sure enough, him and a bunch of other kids were walking towards me.
"Talk about bad timing.." I murmured to only yelp being shoved into a truck.
I winced in pain as Brodies fist rose to hit me but only gasped in pain being ripped off me and shoved onto the concrete.
"Have you lost your damn mind?" Snake hissed glaring towards Brodie who was glaring back.
"Who is this? Your body guards, to much of a wimp you can't protect yourself?" He snapped getting to his feet before dusting off.
Styx glared at him.
"No, we're his friends and your fucking nightmare if you try that shit again. You're lucky your on campus you punks." He growled.
Brodie smirked at him.
"Are you threatening us?" He asked him.Snake stepped up with a rather pissed expression.
"No, but I am. Get lost before I actually hit you, its not in my DNA to hit children but you're making an exception at the moment." He told the other.
"Brodie lets just go, the wimp obviously hired these guys to save his ass. Wait until the next run in." Henri hissed.
Snake smirked at him.
"A trickster bullying a half? This is new to me, I knew we bullied other beings but not the way I'm thinking." He said as Styx rolled his eyes.
Henri looked to them.
"What, you're both tricksters?" He asked.
Snake smirked at the teen.
"Bingo kid, and just knowing you're using your aura to try to make my friends life a hell here, really pisses me off." He hissed.
Henri looked to me now as if looking slightly guilty now.
Brodie looked to the other then to us.
"Lets go, I don't have time for this." He said roughly shoving his shoulder into mine before storming past.
~~~~~~~~~~
"Why haven't you mentioned they're still targeting you?" Styx asked me as we walked towards Cilor.
I shoved my hands into my pockets with a heavy sigh.
"Because I knew you guys would react the way you did, but this friend I have at school is kind of stepping in and helping me out." I told them, it wasn't a lie.
Luna was really helping me out but I wasn't really sure on why.
What was she really gaining?
'Believe it or not but he's special to me.'
I felt my face burning at the thought, why did she say something so embarrassing?
"What are you thinking about that has your face that color?" Snake asked, drawing me from thought.
"What..? Oh um nothing." I said that only earned an arched brow before a wicked smirk appeared on Snake's face.
"Snake don-"
"LUCA'S HAVING DIRTY THOUGHTS!" Snake announced in the store as my jaw dropped.
Almost all of the front workers looked our way as my face darkened.
"Snake shut up! They're not dirty thoughts!" I hissed burying my face in my hands with a groan.
Styx only smiled sadly at me.
~~~~~
"Do we want any kind of cereal?" Chrys asked pushing the buggy.
I looked at the different brands with a shrug.
"Maybe cheerios?" I suggested.
"You always want cheerios." Chrys whined.
"Then why did you ask? You pick then!" I told her with knitted brows.
"Fine, frosted flakes." She said.
"I hate frosted flakes." I grumbled.
"YOU WHAT?!" She yelled.
"Hey! Aisle 5, shut the fuck up you're disturbing the other customers!" Snake yelled.
"Your mouth is disturbing everyone, Snake!" Chrys shot back.
"Honey comb." I said now looking at the yellow box.
"Honey comb? Are you sure?" Chrys asked back to normal for a moment.
I looked to her slightly annoyed.
"Yes, honey comb is one we haven't tried yet." I told her.
She nodded grabbing the box then tossed it into the buggy.
"One thing down, many more to go." She sighed pushing it.
~~~~
"Did you find everything ma'am?" Styx asked in a fake voice with a smirk as Chrys smirked back at him.
"No sir, I couldn't find the fucks to give down aisle five. Also are you aware you have a worker with a potty mouth?" She asked.
Styx smirked as Snake shoved the bags into our buggy.
"Who even argues over a brand of cereal?" He asked.
Chrys glanced to me with a grin.
"We do apparently, can you believe this guy doesn't like frosted flakes?" She asked.
"Ew." Styx's face scrunched up in distaste.
Chrys's expression formed into utter betrayal.
"Not 'ew' you ass! Its freaking great." She hissed.
Snake rolled his eyes.
"Fruit loops are way better than any other brands." He said now.
I groaned."Why didn't I think of fruit loops? Chrys, can we get fruit loops next time?" I asked her.
"Write it on the fridge or else we will both forget." She told me pulling out her credit card to pay.
Rosie soon walked over to us with crossed arms and furrowed brows.
"Rose!" Chrys greeted the other.
Rosie forced a smile.
"Hey guys.. so we got some new recruits in the break room and a ghost from the past is also here." She said her eyes on me when she said that.
I wasn't sure what made me stop what I was doing or to even run to the break room.
It can't be.
Why would he come here?
No, why would he come work here?
To get back at us?
Its not him, it can't be.
I ran into the break room and directly into someone's chest with a groan.
My chest tightened as I looked up as crimson eyes looked back at me.
I flinched when his hand cupped my cheek.
"Hello Luca." He greeted me.
This was a nightmare.
"Hi, Sly." I greeted.
