Makyah

We'd pulled up to the house, Zai's car was in the driveway causing me to look at the time.

With the holidays on us, he'd been working weird shifts for the past few weeks, I hadn't expected him back until around four maybe even five.

The girls and I walked up to the house, groceries in hand. They'd planned on leaving their refrigerated groceries in my fridge until they left for the day.

Zai had opened the door for us, we filed in— follow the leader style. "Thought you'd be sleep," I said walking passed him on my way to the kitchen, the girls close behind.

"Cedes fucking big ass mouth, like to woke me up."

"Yea, fuck you, Zaiver."

He chuckled, "Y'all got anything else."

"No, that's it."

"Nah."

"I do," I yelled over the commotion of plastic bags. "Trunk still popped open, should only be a few more bags in there."

"I'll get them," He'd called back from the entrance.

Cedes cackled warmly. "I cannot believe my girl clapped back at that bum." She glanced at Mani. "Mani, our little girl all grown up."

They both giggled. "Childish, is what the two of you is." I laughed.

"Shorty said she had that drip! That faucet!" Cedes called. "Shut up." I mumbled, hoping that Zai wouldn't hear any of the nonsense they were spitting in the kitchen.

"No, she has that faucét." Mani cracked using a fake French accent. "Y'all see his face when you told him he had a little pinto!" She threw her heard back, cracking up.

I shook my head, these two were going to wear it out.

"What is so damn funny. I can hear you loud fuckas in the driveway," Zai called, walking into the kitchen.

I shook my head, they were definitely going to tell him. I was beginning to regret clapping back at Malik. Mentally, I face palmed when Cedes opened her mouth.

"We saw Malik's lame ass at the store." She recounted, enthusiastically. Her and Mani, had taken turns telling the story.

I glared, "Zai, don't care about female, ex dramas." I told them, trying to avert the conversation to something else.

"Nah, I'm trynna hear with that nigga had to say." Zai had taken a seat at the island, with the other two, getting comfortable.

I rolled my eyes, putting groceries away as they cackled appropriately throughout the recount of events.

Eventually, they'd gotten to the, her nigga be making that shit drip, faucet style, by then, I'd been trying my hardest to avoid eye contact with Zai and the others.

"Oh, shit. Kyah, got it like that?" Zai chuckled. "Who this new nigga anyway?" He asked, stirring a pot that didn't need stirring.

A muttered a curse under my breath, turning to face their expectedly curious faces.

"Oh, yes! Spill the tea, Mykah." Cedes pleaded. Mani eyes had been wide with anticipation, "Who are you throwing it back on?"

I glanced at Zai, who'd had a mischievous gleam in his eyes as he stared me down.

"Dramatic much," I said. "Ain't no new nigga, I was just flexing on Malik. That's all," I lied, hoping the two hadn't noticed.

Cedes shook her head though, "Nah, lying ain't ya thing. You don't flex on nobody, you like to state facts, so tell us." She pouted, but then glanced at Zai.

"Is it him?—" my eyes almost popped out of my sockets, how had she known?

"—Zaiv, leave. We trynna have girl talk and now she won't give the tea cause you sitting here being nosey." A sigh of relief, had left my mouth, when it dawned. She didn't know anything, she just thought I wasn't talking because of him. Good.
