I wake up rolled over on my right side in the fetal position. Clutching my stomach, my hair sticking to my forhead. I glance behind me and see what had woken me up.
Liam.
Standing in the doorway to the bedroom we were suppose to be sharing. His expression looks troubled as he stares at me.
Finally I say, "What are you doing?"
He presses his lips together, "I was going to shut the window. I'm turning the air on. It'll help you."
I nod slightly and let my head fall back to the pillow as he walks in.
I notice his touseled bed head as he shuts the window and closes the blinds, "What time is it?"
"Eight-thirty."
I groan, "Seriously?"
He turns back and looks at me, walking over to the bed he kneels down, brushing the hair off of my forhead, "Seriously. Now how are you feeling?"
I roll my eyes, "Worse with every passing second."
He frowns and cups my cheek, "You're really pale Sky. You need to eat something. Bree told me you threw up before your bath yesterday."
I nod, "I did. I didn't want to eat after that but she made me eat some crackers with my tea."
He nods silently and looks away for a moment, "I'm sorry about Jemma."
I shake my head, "Liam it's not fair to-"
He shakes his head, "Please let me finish," he meets my gaze and gulps, "What I did was wrong. I knew better-" he pauses and corrects himself, "I know better. I know that doing that was selfish and completely unfair to you and unfair to your wolf. And I understand why you didn't tell me about Bethany. There's a reason we aren't suppose to know who our Mates are until we're seventeen."
I bite my lip and lace my fingers through his, "It wasn't exactly fair to keep that from you though. Especially when I know that Toby is suppose to be my Mate."
He shakes his head, "Just because you know something doesn't mean you have to tell anyone about it. You know about your Mate for a reason, and the Moon Goddesses know that reason. They'll help you if you let them."
I bite my lip and frown, "How are they suppose to help if my own Wolf won't even talk to me?"
He frowns and cups my cheek, "She won't let you take the heat all by yourself. Your wolf knows it would destroy you and destroy her."
I nod and look up at him, "Micah spoke to me last night."
His eyes widen, "Why didn't you tell anyone?"
I shrug, "It was a private conversation...but they're feeding him vervain. He said he wouldn't be able to talk again. He has to eat to keep himself strong. He could tell how bad the heat was through the link."
His face softens and he rubs my back slowly, "Talking to him helped a bit though. Right?"
I nod, "Yeah...but he said that if my wolf doesn't help me that he's worried about what will happen to me."
He nods, "I'm worried too Sky...and my mom thinks that Toby should Mate you."
My eyes widen and I shake my head, "No."
He smiles slightly, "I knew you'd say that...but she's right about one thing. You're going to have to find relief in some way. You can't shift without your wolf and without your wolf you have the toll of the heat. There's really only one other thing to do..."
