As soon as I hit the backyard my dad was standing there with my mother. I had never been more thankful for her being a doctor than right in that moment.

She follows me into her office and I lay Skylar on the table, I help her get her shirt off as my mother pulls a sheet up over her. The blood was coming from a tear in her shoulder. Her arm was almost completely torn off.

When my mom goes to move my hand I snarl at her. She gives me a stern look, "Liam this is not the time."

Someone touches her arm and I growl, "Don't touch her!"

Cam's eyes widen and he holds up his hands, "Liam this isn't going to help her. You need to let your mom work."

I growl at him, lengthing my canines, "Back down."

He gives me a stern look, "Liam-"

I go to claw at him but someone pulls me back, "This isn't going to help Skylar."

I shove my elbow into the ribcage of Toby, and turn on him, pushing him into the wall, "Don't you dare go telling me what's going to help her!"

Someone pulls me back yet again, "If you don't get out of here and let your mother help my daughter I will hurt you Liam. Now let's get out."

I'm pulled into the living room and I pace back and forth as my mother works on Skylar. I snarl at Carmen when she walks in and she looks down her lip trembling, "I'm so sorry Liam. I'm so so sorry."

I growl lowly, "Get out of my sight."

I knew I couldn't kick her out of the pack, as much as I wanted to. Cam and his parents, plus Jay, and even Skylar would never forgive me.

If Skylar would even talk to me after all of this.

For the next two hours I snarled at anyone who got within five feet of me. Everyone stayed out of the room.  When I hear the door open the look on my mother's face nearly kills me.

"You both need to sit with her," she says looking at both me and Toby.

I gulp and look down, "I won't help."

Toby growls at me and moves past my mother. She looks at me, concern filling her face.

"Liam what happened out there?"

"Her dad had me pinned down and his Beta had Toby. He told her to choose, so I made the decision for her. It hurt her so bad she collapsed mom," my voice cracks. After a minute I swallow deeply, "The Beta attacked her. He did this to her. I couldn't get there fast enough. I tried."

I look up and see Toby in the doorway, "Just come sit with her."

I look at my mom and she nods, brushing my hair back, "Sit with her, hold her hand. Tell her your sorry. It's her wolf that needs to heal right now, you're her Alpha."

I nod and stand following Toby inside the room. Her arm was bandaged along with her chest. Her hair was matted against her head and her skin was pale as snow. She looked lifeless. I sit next to her and take hold of her hand, stroking the skin and listening for her heartbeat.

It was a weak beat. A slow, aching thump. An aching thump that was going to haunt me for the rest of my life.

***Skylar***

I'm sitting on a white bench all alone when someone calls my name. I stand up and follow the pathway before me. It smells of cinnamon and apples and the small twigs dig into my bare feet. When I reach a white marble table a woman appears before me.

"Skylar Black?"

I nod, "Yes?"

"Egahi will see you now."
